Notes

The length of my cowl is 70.0, and the height is 17.0 cm. You will work in rounds. After each round you will turn your work around to crochet in the other direction. This pattern uses the lemon peel stitch. The photo instructions below show how to make this stitch. You can adjust the length of your cowl by chaining an even number of chains until you reach the desired length. To adjust the height of the cowl, repeat round 2 until you reach the desired height. It is a reversible crochet stitch and it looks the same on both sides.

Pattern

Start by chaining an even number of chains until you reach the desired length. I chained 110 (the length of my cowl is 70 cm). Then join to the beginning of the chain with a sl st (make sure that the chain is not twisted before you join).

Round 1: ch 1 (does not count as a st), sc in the 1st st, dc in the next st, *sc in the next st, dc in the next st*, rep ** until the end of the round. Join with a sl st to the 1st sc of this round.

Round 2: ch 1 (does not count as a st) and turn your work around. Sc in the 1st dc of the prev round, dc in the next st, *sc in the next st, dc in the next st*, rep ** until the end of the round. Join with a sl st to the 1st sc of this round.

Round 3-30: repeat round 2.

Fasten off.

Joining the ends of the chain

It is easy to adjust the size of your scarf: in the beginning make a chain which length should be equal to the length of your scarf (any number of chains). The pattern is a repeat of one row.

Pattern

Start by chaining 145 with the curry yarn (the length of my scarf is 1 meter, but you can chain any number of chains until you reach the desired length). Then join to the beginning of the chain with a sl st (make sure that the long chain is not twisted before you join).

Round 1: ch 2, esc in the back of the chain in every st until the end of the round, join with a sl st to the ch 2.

Round 2-12: ch 2, esc-blo in every st until the end of the round, join with a sl st to the ch 2.

Change yarn color to bordeaux (see photo instructions).

Round 13-14: repeat round 2.

Change yarn color to curry.

Round 15-16: repeat round 2.

Change yarn color to bordeaux.

Round 17-18: repeat round 2.

Round 1

1. Start by making a chain with the curry yarn. The length of the chain should be around 1 meter (or as long as you want) and you can make any number of chains. I chained 145 chains.

3. Yarn over.

4. Pull the yarn through to make a slip stitch. Now your chain is connected.

5. Then chain two.

6. Next you will have to make extended single crochets in the back of the chain in every stitch until the end of the round. So, insert your hook in the back of the next chain.

7. Yarn over.

8. Pull the yarn through. Now you have two loops on your hook.

9. Yarn over.

10. Then pull the yarn through the first loop on your hook. Now you have two loops on your hook.

11. Yarn over again.

12. Pull the yarn through both loops on your hook. You have just made an extended single crochet in the back of the chain.

13. Make another extended single crochet in the back of the next chain.

14. Keep working in the same way until the end of the round.

15. To complete the round join with a slip stitch to the second chain of the chain two that you made in the beginning of this round.

Round 2

16. Chain two.

17. In this and all other rounds you will have to make extended single crochets in the back loop only. So, insert your hook in the next stitch grabbing just the back loop like it is shown in the picture.

18. Yarn over.

19. Pull the yarn through. Now you have two loops on your hook.

20. Yarn over.

21. Pull the yarn through the first loop on your hook. Now you have two loops on your hook.

22. Yarn over.

23. Pull the yarn through both loops on your hook. You have just made an extended single crochet back loop only.

24. Keep making extended single crochets back loop only in every stitch until the end of the round.

25. In the end of the round make a slip stitch to the second chain as in round 1.

Round 13

26. In round 13 you have to change yarn color to bordeaux. So, take the bordeaux yarn and cut the curry yarn (you will have to weave in the ends at the end of the project).

27. Chain one with the bordeaux yarn.

28. Pull the end of the curry yarn to tighten up and secure the bordeaux yarn. Now your bordeaux yarn is ready to use. (Alternatively you could make a slip stitch in the end of round 12 with the bordeaux yarn).

29. Chain two and work as usually. Change color according to the written pattern until the end. Then fasten off and weave in the ends.

Notes

The length of my cowl is 60.0 cm and the height is 19.0 cm. You will be working in rounds. This pattern uses the trinity stitch. Photo instructions below show the main steps how to make this stitch. The pattern is a repeat of one round. It is very easy to adjust the size of the cowl: in the beginning make an even number of chains to reach the desired length of your cowl. Then make any number of rounds until you reach the desired height. I changed yarn color when I reached around 4/5 of the height of my cowl. Be aware that the seam (where you join with a slip stitch) for this pattern moves to the right when you work your way up (in this way it is less noticeable).

Pattern

Start by making a chain with the dark rose yarn. I chained 120 chains (60 cm). Then join to the beginning of the chain with a sl st (make sure that the long chain is not twisted before you join).

Round 1: ch 1, make a sc in the very first st, tr st until the end of the round, join with a sl st to the sc that you made in the beginning (see photo instructions).

Round 2-26: repeat round 1.

Change yarn color to rose (see photo instructions).

Round 27-34: repeat round 1.

Fasten off.

11. Then chain one to close the trinity stitch. Next you will make the second trinity stitch: you will work in the stitch where you have just worked in and then in the next two stitches.

12. So, insert your hook where you have just worked in, yarn over and pull the yarn through. Now you have two loops on your hook.

13. Then insert your hook in the back of the next stitch, yarn over and pull the yarn through. Now you have three loops on your hook.

14. Insert your hook in the back of the next stitch, yarn over and pull the yarn through. Now you have four loops on your hook.

15. Yarn over.

16. Pull the yarn through all four loops.

17. Then chain one to close the trinity stitch.

18. Work in the same way until the end of the round. When you make the last trinity stitch in this round, don’t chain one to close it. Instead you will join with a slip stitch to the single crochet that you made in the beginning of this round like it is indicated in the picture.

19. So, insert your hook in the top of the single crochet that your made in the beginning, yarn over and pull the yarn through.

Round 2

20. Then chain one. Next you will work in the very first stitch like it is indicated in the picture.

21. So, make a single crochet in the very first stitch. Next you will work in the same stitch where you have just worked in and then in the next two stitches.

22. So, insert your hook in the same stitch where you have just worked in, yarn over and pull the yarn through. Now you have two loops on your hook.

23. Then insert your hook in the next stitch, yarn over and pull the yarn through. Now you have three loops on your hook.

24. Insert your hook in the next stitch, yarn over and pull the yarn through. Now you have four loops on your hook.

25. Yarn over.

26. Pull the yarn through all four loops.

32. Work in the same way until the end of the round. Like before, don’t chain one to close the last trinity stitch, instead you will join with a slip stitch to the single crochet that you made in the beginning of this round.

33. So, make a slip stitch to the top of the single crochet. For the rest of the pattern repeat round 2.

Round 27

34. In round 27 (or when you reach around 4/5 of the height of your cowl) you have to change yarn color. So, take your rose yarn.

35. Chain one with the rose yarn.

36. Then pull the end of the dark rose yarn to tighten and secure the rose yarn.

37. Then chain one and work as usually until the end.

Pattern

Start by chaining multiples of three until you reach the length of 60 cm with the rose yarn. I chained 40 x 3 = 120. Then join to the beginning of the chain with a sl st (make sure that the chain is not twisted before you join).

Round 1: ch 2, *skip two st, make a sc, ch 2, make a sc in the same st*, rep * * until the end of the round, join with a sl st to the ch2 that you made in the beginning of this round.

Round 2: ch 3, *make 3 dcs in the chain 2 space of the previous round*, rep * * until the end of the round, join with a sl st to the ch3.

Round 3: ch 2, *make a sc in the middle dc (out of three dcs) in the previous round, ch 2, make a sc in the same st*, rep * * until the end of the round, join with a sl st to the ch2.

Rounds 4-30: For the rest of the pattern repeat round 2 and round 3.

Changing colors: Round 1-2 rose, rounds 3-4 white, rounds 5-26 rose, rounds 27-28 white, rounds 29-30 rose.

19. When you reach the end of the round, join with a slip stitch to the chain three that you made in the beginning of the round.

Round 3

20. In round 3 you have to change yarn color. So, take the white yarn and chain one.

21. Then tighten it up by pulling the end of the rose yarn. The white yarn is ready to use.

22. Chain two.

23. Then make a single crochet in the middle double crochet out of three double crochets in the previous round.

24. Chain two.

25. Make a single crochet in the same stitch.

26. Then skip two stitches and make a single crochet in the middle double crochet of the previous round, chain two and make a single crochet in the same stitch.

27. Work in same way until the end of the round.

28. Then join with a slip stitch to the chain two that you made in the beginning of this round.

Round 4

29. For the rest of the pattern repeat rounds 2 and 3. Remember to change yarn color as needed.

Notes

The size of my scarf is 132.0 x 22.0 cm. You will be working in continuous rounds, which means that in the end of the round you don’t join with a sl st, but continue working in the top of your previous round. Photo instructions below show the main steps how to make the scarf. This infinity scarf is reversible and looks great from both sides.

Pattern

Start by chaining 145 (132 cm). The exact number of chains is not that important. Then join to the beginning of the chain with a sl st (make sure that the chain is not twisted before you join with a sl st).

Round 1: chain 2, hdc in the back of the chain until the end of the round. Don’t join with a sl st, start making round 2 in the the top of round 1 (see photo instructions below).

Round 2: hdc-3lo until the end of the row.

Round 3: sc-blo until the end of the row.

Round 4: hdc-blo until the end of the row.

Repeat rounds 2-4 until you reach the desired width of the scarf or until your run out of yarn. I made 25 rounds. Then, make one sc-blo and one sl st as two last stitches to smoothen the edge of the scarf. Fasten off.

12. Yarn over and pull the yarn through. Now you have three loops on your hook.

13. Yarn over and pull the yarn through all three loops. This is the first stitch in round 2.

14. Next insert your hook in the third loop of the next stitch. The third loop is behind “v”, on the bad side of your work.

15. Yarn over and pull the yarn through that third loop. Now you have three loops on your hook.

16. Yarn over and pull the yarn though all three loops. You have just made a half double crochet third loop only (hdc-3lo). Remember to put a marker in the first stitch of the round. If you don’t have a market, you can use a simple hair pin. Mark the beginning of the round in each round, otherwise it is easy to lose track.

17. When you will make more hdc-3lo, you will notice that the chain from the previous round can be seen in the front.

18. Continue making hdc-3lo until the end of the round.

Round 3

19. Then insert your hook in the next stitch grabbing just the back loop.

20. Yarn over.

21. Pull the yarn through. Now you have two loops on your hook.

22. Yarn over and pull the yarn through both loops. You have just made a single crochet back loop only (sc-blo).

23. Continue making sc-blo until the end of the round.

Round 4

24. Then yarn over and insert your hook in the next stitch grabbing just the back loop.

25. Pull the yarn through. Now you have three loops on your hook.

26. Yarn over. Pull the yarn through all three loops. You have just made a half double crochet back loop only (hdc-blo).

• Hook: as suggested on your yarn label. I used hook size 6.0.

Notes

For this hat you should make a rectangle: the height (b) is equal to your head circumference (add a couple of cm for it to be more lose), the width (a1) is equal to how tall you want your hat to be (see the picture below). The size of my hat rectangle is 26×54 cm. You can adjust the width by choosing the length of your chain. The same applies to the height: the pattern is repeating, each row is the same, so you can stop after any row when you reach the height of your rectangle. Also, I was chaining 1, not 2, in the beginning of the row even though it is an hdc stitch – it worked better for this project. Chain 1 does not count as a stitch.

Pattern

Start with any number of chains that are equal to the width (a1) of your rectangle + 1. I chained 32 + 1.

Row 1: hdc in the second ch from your hook and every following ch until the end of the row.

Row 2: ch 1, hdc-3lo-f in every st of the prev row.

Repeat row 2 until you reach the height of your rectangle. I made 51 rows.

Fold the rectangle in two so that the edges a1 and a2 meet. Connect both edges with scs. Now it is a good time to check if your hat fits your head. If not, add some rows or make the rectangle shorter, and connect the edges again. All that is left to do is to close the top of the hat. Take your tapestry needle and weave in the yarn along the edge b. Pull the yarn and close the top of the hat, fasten off.

Also, I was chaining 1, not 2, in the beginning of the round even though it is an hdc stitch – it just worked better for this project.

Pattern

Start with any number of chains. I chained 212. Connect the last ch to the first ch with a sl st. Ch 1.

Round 1: hdc in the second ch from your hook and every following ch until the end of the round. Connect with a sl st to the first st of this rnd.

Round 2: ch 1, hdc-3lo in every st of the prev rnd. Connect with a sl st.

Round 3: ch 1, hdc-3lo-f in every st of the prev rnd. Connect with a sl st.

Round 4-32: repeat rnd 2-3.

Fasten off and weave in the ends.
