Photo instructions for the textured granite stitch
Row 1
1. Start by chaining an even number of chains. You will start working in the second chain from your hook.
2. So, make a single crochet in the second chain from your hook.
3. Continue making single crochets in every stitch until the end of the row.
Row 2
4. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.
5. Make a single crochet in the first stitch.
6. Continue making single crochets in every stitch until the end of the row.
Row 3
7. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.
8. Make a single crochet in the first stitch. Next you will make a front post treble crochet working two rows below.
9. So, yarn over twice.
10. Insert your hook bringing the post of the second single crochet in row 1 to the front.
11. Yarn over.
12. Pull the yarn through. Now you have four loops on your hook.
13. Yarn over.
14. Pull the yarn through the first two loops. Now you have three loops on your hook.
15. Yarn over.
16. Pull the yarn through the first two loops. Now you have two loops on your hook.
17. Yarn over.
18. Pull the yarn through both loops. You have just made a front post treble crochet working two rows below!
19. You will always skip the stitch that is hiding behind the front post treble crochet and work in the next one.
20. So, make a single crochet in the next stitch.
21. Make a front post treble crochet working in the next single crochet that is two rows below.
22. Make a single crochet in the next stitch.
23. Then repeat. Make a front post treble crochet working two rows below.
24. Make a single crochet in the next stitch.
25. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row. The row should end with a single crochet.
Row 4
26. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.
27. Make a single crochet in the first stitch.
28. Continue making single crochets in every stitch until the end of the row.
Row 5
29. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.
30. Make a single crochet in the first stitch.
31. Make another single crochet in the next stitch.
32. Then make a front post treble crochet working in the next single crochet two rows below (row 3).
33. Make a single crochet in the next stitch.
34. Then repeat. Make a front post treble crochet working in the next single crochet two rows below.
35. Make a single crochet in the next stitch.
36. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row until you have one stitch left.
37. Then make a single crochet in the last stitch. The row should end with two single crochets. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-5.
