Double trellis stitch

In this step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the double trellis stitch. This crochet stitch tutorial includes detailed photo instructions. For this crochet stitch you should know how to make a single crochet. The tutorial below shows how to make a double treble crochet stitch. The double trellis stitch is a repeat of four rows. The fabric turns out light and lacy.

Step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial: Double trellis stitch

Row 1

1. Start by chaining a multiple of six plus two. You will start working in the second chain from your hook.

2. So, make a single crochet in the second chain from your hook.

3. Continue making single crochets in every stitch until the end of the row.

Row 2

4. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

5. Make a single crochet in the first stitch.

6. Make a single crochet in the next stitch.

7. Chain seven.

8. Skip three stitches and make three single crochets in the next three stitches.

9. Then repeat. Chain seven.

10. Skip three stitches and make three single crochets in the next three stitches.

11. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row until you have five stitches left.

12. Then chain seven as usual.

13. Skip three stitches and make two single crochets in the last two stitches.

Row 3

14. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

15. Make a single crochet in the first stitch.

16. Chain four.

17. Make a single crochet in the fourth chain of the chain seven.

18. Chain four.

19. Skip the next single crochet and make a single crochet in the next one.

20. Then repeat. Chain four and make a single crochet in the fourth chain of the next chain seven.

21. Chain four, skip the next single crochet and make a single crochet in the next one.

22. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row. The row should end with a single crochet made in the last stitch.

Row 4

23. Chain eight and turn your work around.

24. Make a single crochet in the chain four space.

25. Make a single crochet in the next single crochet.

26. Make another single crochet in the next chain four space.

27. Chain seven and make a single crochet in the next chain four space.

28. Make a single crochet in the next single crochet and another one in the next chain four space.

29. Then repeat. Chain seven and make a single crochet in the next chain four space.

30. Make a single crochet in the next single crochet and another one in the next chain four space.

31. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

32. At the end of the row chain three. Next you will make a double treble crochet in the last stitch.

33. So, yarn over three times.

34. Insert your hook in the last stitch and yarn over.

35. Pull the yarn through. Now you have five loops on your hook.

36. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the first two loops. Now you have four loops on your hook.

37. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the first two loops. Now you have three loops on your hook.

38. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the first two loops. Now you have two loops on your hook.

39. Yarn over and pull the yarn through both loops. You have just made a double treble crochet!

Row 5

40. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

41. Make a single crochet in the first stitch.

42. Chain four, skip the next single crochet and make a single crochet in the next one.

43. Then repeat. Chain four and make a single crochet in the fourth chain of the next chain seven.

44. Chain four, skip the next single crochet and make a single crochet in the next one.

45. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

46. At the end of the row chain four.

47. Skip the next three chains of the turning chain and make a single crochet in the next one.

Row 6

48. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

49. Make a single crochet in the first stitch.

50. Make another single crochet in the chain four space.

51. Chain seven and make a single crochet in the next chain four space.

52. Make a single crochet in the next single crochet and another one in the next chain four space.

53. Then repeat. Chain seven and make a single crochet in the next chain four space.

54. Make a single crochet in the next single crochet and another one in the next chain four space.

55. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row. At the end of the row chain seven as usual.

56. Then make a single crochet in the last chain four space.

57. Make another single crochet in the last stitch. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 3-6.
