In this step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the half treble crochet. This crochet stitch tutorial includes detailed photo instructions. The half treble crochet stitch is a repeat of one row and it is easy to make. The fabric turns out dense.

Crochet stitch tutorial: Half treble crochet

Photo instructions for the half treble crochet

Row 1

1. Start by chaining any number of chains. You will start working in the fourth chain from your hook.

2. You will make a half treble crochet. So, yarn over twice.

3. Insert your hook in the fourth stitch and yarn over.

4. Pull the yarn through. Now you have four loops on your hook.

5. Yarn over.

6. Pull the yarn through the first two loops. Now you have three loops on your hook.

7. Yarn over.

8. Pull the yarn through all three loops. You have just made a half treble crochet!

9. Make another half treble crochet in the next stitch.

10. Continue working the same way until the end of the row.

Row 2

11. Chain three and turn your work around. Chain three counts as a stitch.

12. Make a half treble crochet in the second stitch.

13. Continue making half treble crochets in every stitch until the end of the row.

14. At the end of the row make the last half treble crochet in the turning chain. For the rest of the pattern repeat row 2.

Finished half treble crochet

15. Done!
