Spider stitch

In this tutorial I show how to make the spider stitch. The spider crochet stitch is beginner friendly and only requires to know how to make a chain and a single crochet. To make this stitch, you just need to repeat one row.

Photo instructions for the spider crochet stitch

Row 1

1. Start with an even number of chains. You will start working in the second chain from your hook like it is shown in the picture.

2. So, make a single crochet (sc) in the second chain from your hook.

3. Then chain one.

4. Make a second sc in the same stitch. Next you have to skip one stitch like it is indicated in the picture.

5. So, skip one stitch and make an sc.

6. Chain one.

7. Make a second sc in the same stitch where you have just worked in.

8. Repeat this until the end of the row.

Row 2

9. Then turn your work around. Don’t chain one. You will be working straight into the one chain space of the previous row like it is shown in the picture.

10. So, make an sc into the chain one space.

11. Chain one.

12. Then make a second sc in the same chain one space.

13. Keep working into chain one spaces until the end of the row.

14. This is how the spider stitch looks after a few rows. Done!

15. The look of this stitch is slightly different when you work in rounds.
