The crossed double crochet and split fan stitch

In this step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the crossed double crochet and split fan stitch. This crochet stitch tutorial includes photo instructions and a video tutorial (see below). For this crochet stitch you should know how to make a single crochet and a double crochet. The tutorial below shows how to make a crossed double crochet stitch. The crossed double crochet and split fan stitch is a repeat of four rows. The fabric turns out light and lacy.

Row 1

1. Start by chaining a multiple of eight plus two. You will start working in the second chain from your hook.

2. So, make a single crochet in the second chain from your hook.

3. Chain one.

4. Skip three stitches and make three double crochets in the next stitch.

5. Chain two.

6. Then make three more double crochets in the same stitch.

7. Chain one.

8. Skip three stitches and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

9. Chain one.

10. Skip three stitches and make three double crochets in the next stitch.

11. Chain two.

12. Make three more double crochets in the same stitch.

13. Chain one, skip three stitches and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

14. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

15. The row should end with a single crochet.

Row 2

16. Chain three and turn your work around. Chain three counts as a stitch.

17. Make a double crochet in the first stitch.

18. Chain three.

19. Make a single crochet in the next chain two space.

20. Chain three.

21. Skip the first chain one space and make a double crochet in the next chain one space.

22. Chain one.

23. Next you will make a double crochet in the previous chain one space. So, yarn over.

24. Insert your hook in the previous chain one space and yarn over.

25. Pull the yarn through. Now you have three loops on your hook.

26. Yarn over.

27. Pull the yarn through the first two loops on your hook.

28. Yarn over.

29. Pull the yarn through both loops.

30. Chain three.

31. Make a single crochet in the next chain two space.

32. Chain three, skip the first chain one space and make a double crochet in the next chain one space.

33. Chain one.

34. Then make a double crochet in the previous chain one space.

35. Chain three and make a single crochet in the next chain two space.

36. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

37. At the end of the row chain three as usually.

38. Then make two double crochets in the last stitch.

Row 3

39. Chain four and turn your work around. Chain four counts as a stitch.

40. Then make three double crochets in the first stitch.

41. Chain one.

42. Make a single crochet in the single crochet of the previous row. Chain one.

43. Then make three double crochets in the next chain one space (in between the two crossed double crochets).

44. Chain two.

45. Make three more double crochets in the same chain one space.

46. Chain one.

47. Make a single crochet in the next single crochet of the previous row.

48. Then repeat: chain one, in the next chain one space make three double crochets, chain two and three more double crochets, chain one and make a single crochet in the next single crochet.

49. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

50. At the end of the row chain one as usually.

51. Then make three double crochets in the turning chain.

52. Chain one.

53. Make one more double crochet in the same chain of the turning chain.

Row 4

54. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

55. Make a single crochet in the chain one space.

56. Chain three.

57. Skip the next chain one space and make a double crochet in the next one.

58. Chain one.

59. Then make a double crochet in the previous chain one space.

60. Chain three.

61. Make a single crochet in the next chain two space.

62. Then repeat: chain three, skip the next chain one space, make a double crochet in the next one, chain one, make a double crochet in the previous chain one space, chain three and make a single crochet in the next chain two space.

63. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row. At the end of the row chain three as usually.

64. Then make a single crochet in the turning chain space.

Row 5

65. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

66. Make a single crochet in the first stitch.

67. Chain one.

68. Then make three double crochets in the next chain one space.

69. Chain two.

70. Make three double crochets in the same chain one space.

71. Chain one.

72. Make a single crochet in the next single crochet.

73. Then repeat: chain one, in the next chain one space make three double crochets, chain two and three more double crochets, chain one and make a single crochet in the next single crochet.

74. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row. At the end of the row chain one as usually.

75. Then make a single crochet in the last stitch. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-5.
