In this step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the picot trellis stitch. This crochet stitch tutorial includes photo instructions and a video tutorial (see below). For this crochet stitch you should know how to make a single crochet. The tutorial below shows how to make a treble crochet stitch. The picot trellis stitch is a repeat of two rows. The fabric turns out lacy and very light.
For this tutorial I use Hjertegarn DIAMOND mercerized cotton 100% 8/4 50g, color: 361 (grey), and a 2.0 mm hook.

Row 1

1. Start by chaining a multiple of five plus two. You will start working in the second chain from your hook.

2. So, make a single crochet in the second chain from your hook.

3. Chain five.

4. Skip four stitches and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

5. Chain five.

6. Skip four stitches and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

7. Then repeat: chain five, skip four stitches and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

8. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.
Row 2

9. Chain six and turn your work around. Next you will make a picot stitch in the third chain of the chain five.

10. So, make a single crochet in the third chain of the chain five.

11. Chain three.

12. Make a single crochet in the same chain. You have just made a picot stitch!

13. Chain five.

14. Make another picot stitch in the third chain of the next chain five.

15. Then repeat: chain five and make a picot stitch in the third chain of the next chain five.

16. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

17. At the end of the row chain two. Next you will make a treble crochet in the last stitch.

18. So, yarn over twice.

19. Insert your hook in the last stitch and yarn over.

20. Pull the yarn through. Now you have four loops on your hook.

21. Yarn over.

22. Pull the yarn through the first two loops on your hook. Now you have three loops on your hook.

23. Yarn over.

24. Pull the yarn through the first two loops on your hook. Now you have two loops on your hook.

25. Yarn over.

26. Pull the yarn through both loops on your hook. You have just made a treble crochet.
Row 3

27. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

28. Make a single crochet in the very first stitch.

29. Then chain five.

30. Make a picot stitch in the third chain of the next chain five.

31. Chain five.

32. Make a picot stitch in the third chain of the next chain five.

33. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

34. At the end of the row chain five as usually.

35. Then make a single crochet in the third chain of the turning chain. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-3.
