In this step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the lacy kite stitch. This crochet stitch tutorial includes photo instructions and a video tutorial (see below). For this crochet stitch you should know how to make a single crochet and a double crochet. The tutorial below shows how to make a treble crochet stitch. The lacy kite stitch is a repeat of two rows. The fabric turns out light and lacy.

Row 1

1. Start by chaining a multiple of five plus four. You will start working in the sixth chain from your hook.

2. So, make two double crochets in the sixth chain from your hook.

3. Chain one.

4. Then make two more double crochets in the same stitch.

5. Skip four stitches and in the next stitch make two double crochets.

6. Chain one.

7. Make two double crochets in the same stitch where you have just worked in.

8. Then repeat: skip four stitches and in the next stitch make two double crochets, chain one and two more double crochets.

9. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

10. At the end of the row skip two stitches and make a double crochet in the last stitch.
Row 2

11. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

12. Make a single crochet in the very first stitch.

13. Chain three.

14. Then make a double crochet in the next chain one space.

15. Chain three.

16. Make a single crochet in between the two Vs of the previous row.

17. Chain three.

18. Make a double crochet in the next chain one space.

19. Chain three.

20. Make a single crochet in between the next two Vs of the previous row.

21. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

22. At the end of the row chain three as usually.

23. Then make a single crochet in the turning chain of the previous row.
Row 3

24. Chain four and turn your work around. Chain four counts as a stitch.

25. Make two double crochets in the next double crochet of the previous row.

26. Chain one.

27. Then make two more double crochets in the same stitch where you have just worked in.

28. In the next double crochet of the previous row make two double crochets, chain one and two more double crochets.

29. Then repeat: in the next double crochet of the previous row make two double crochets, chain one and two more double crochets.

30. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

31. At the end of the row you will make a treble crochet in the last single crochet of the previous row. So, yarn over twice.

32. Insert your hook in the last stitch and yarn over.

33. Pull the yarn through. Now you have four loops on your hook.

34. Yarn over.

35. Pull the yarn through the first two loops on your hook. Now you have three loops on your hook.

36. Yarn over.

37. Pull the yarn through the first two loops on your hook. Now you have two loops on your hook.

38. Yarn over.

39. Pull the yarn through both loops. You have just made a treble crochet. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-3.
Finished lacy kite stitch
