The granny stripe stitch

In this step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the granny stripe stitch. This crochet stitch tutorial includes detailed photo instructions. For this crochet stitch you should know how to make a double crochet. The granny stripe stitch is a repeat of two rows. It is very easy to make and it is suitable for beginners. The granny stripe stitch works great with multiple colors.

Crochet stitch tutorial: The granny stripe stitch

Row 1

1. Start by chaining a multiple of three plus one with eucalyptus yarn. You will start working in the fourth chain from your hook.

2. So, make a double crochet in the fourth chain from your hook.

3. Skip two stitches and make a double crochet in the next stitch.

4. Then make two more double crochets in the same stitch.

5. Skip two stitches and make three double crochets in the next stitch.

6. Then repeat: skip two stitches and make three double crochets in the next stitch.

7. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

8. At the end of the row skip two stitches and make two double crochets in the last stitch.

9. Change yarn color to navy blue: chain one with navy blue yarn.

10. Pull the end of eucalyptus yarn to tighten up and secure navy blue yarn.

11. Chain three with navy blue yarn.

Row 2

12. Turn your work around. Chain three counts as a stitch.

13. Make three double crochets in between the two groups of double crochets.

14. Make three double crochets in between the next two groups of double crochets.

15. Then repeat: make three double crochets in between the next two groups of double crochets.

16. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

17. At the end of the row make a double crochet in the turning chain.

18. Change yarn color to sand in the same way as before.

Row 3

19. Chain three and turn your work around. Chain three counts as a stitch.

20. Make a double crochet in between the first double crochet and the next group of double crochets.

21. Then make three double crochets in between the next two groups of double crochets.

22. Then repeat: make three double crochets in between the next two groups of double crochets.

23. At the end of the row make two double crochets in the turning chain space. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-3 changing yarn color every row.
