In this step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the dessert stitch. This crochet stitch tutorial includes detailed photo instructions. For this crochet stitch you should know how to make a single crochet and a double crochet. The tutorial below shows how to make a slip stitch. The dessert stitch is a repeat of four rows. The fabric turns out light and lacy.

Photo instructions for the dessert stitch
Row 1

1. Start by chaining a multiple of four plus three. You will start working in the fourth chain from your hook.

2. So, make a double crochet in the fourth chain from your hook.

3. Continue making double crochets in every stitch until the end of the row.
Row 2

4. Chain three and turn your work around. Chain three counts as a stitch.

5. Make two double crochets in the third double crochet.

6. Chain three.

7. Next you will make a slip stitch. So, insert your hook in the first chain grabbing only the front loop and yarn over.

8. Pull the yarn through. Now you have two loops on your hook.

9. Pull the first loop through the second one. You have just made a slip stitch.

10. Make another double crochet in the same double crochet.

11. Chain one, skip three stitches and make two double crochets in the next stitch.

12. Chain three, make a slip stitch in the first chain and a double crochet in the same double crochet.

13. Then repeat. Chain one, skip three stitches and make two double crochets in the next stitch.

14. Chain three, make a slip stitch in the first chain and a double crochet in the same double crochet.

15. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

16. At the end of the row make a double crochet in the turning chain.
Row 3

17. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

18. Make a single crochet in the first stitch.

19. Chain five and make a single crochet in the next chain one space.

20. Then repeat. Chain five and make a single crochet in the next chain one space.

21. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

22. At the end of the row make the last single crochet in the turning chain.
Row 4

23. Chain four and turn your work around.

24. Make a single crochet in the next chain five space.

25. Chain three and make a single crochet in the next chain five space.

26. Then repeat. Chain three and make a single crochet in the next chain five space.

27. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

28. At the end of the row chain one and make a double crochet in the last stitch.
Row 5

29. Chain three and turn your work around. Chain three counts as a stitch.

30. Make a double crochet in the next chain one space and another double crochet in the next stitch.

31. Make three double crochets in the next chain three space and a double crochet in the next stitch.

32. Then repeat. Make three double crochets in the next chain three space and a double crochet in the next stitch.

33. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

34. At the end of the row make two double crochets in the turning chain space. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-5.
