Crochet basket Daisy

Here is a free pattern for this cute modern crochet basket Daisy. It is tiny and it would be perfect to keep a few pieces of your jewelry or some other small items.

This pattern uses the simple daisy stitch. The photo instructions below show how to make this crochet basket step-by-step, including the simple daisy stitch. The pattern is quite simple and the simple daisy stitch is just a repeat of one round.

You can find my other free crochet patterns here.

Good luck!

Materials

  • Yarn: any thin yarn will work. I used DIAMOND 8/4 mercerized cotton 100% 50 g. Color: 3304 (lilac).
  • Hook: as suggested on your yarn label. I used hook size 2.0.

Abbreviations (US terms)

Notes

The diameter of my basket is 7.0 cm and the height is 3.0 cm (6.0 cm not folded).

You will work in rounds. This pattern uses the simple daisy stitch. Photo instructions below show the main steps how to make this stitch. To make a single crochet increase simply make two single crochets in the same stitch. In round 9 the number of stitches is reduced by one because the simple daisy stitch uses an odd number of stitches.

Photo instructions for a crochet basket Daisy

Round 1

1. Start by making eight single crochets in the magic ring.

2. Next you will have to join with a slip stitch to the first single crochet.

3. So, insert your hook in the top of the first single crochet and yarn over.

4. Pull the yarn through. Now you have two loops on your hook.

5. Pull the first loop through the second one. You have just made a slip stitch.

Round 2

6. Chain one. It counts as a stitch. In this round you will make single crochet increases in every stitch.

7. So, make a single crochet in the very first stitch. That is your first single crochet increase because the chain that you made in the beginning counts as a stitch.

8. Then make two single crochets (or in other words a single crochet increase) in the next stitch. Continue making single crochet increases until the end of the round.

9. At the end of the round you will join with a slip stitch to the chain one.

10. So, insert your hook in the chain grabbing its one loop and make a slip stitch.
