In this free step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make a lacy aligned scallop stitch. This stitch is a lacy crochet stitch. The fabric turns out light and breathable. It works great for shawls and wraps, lightweight scarves, lacy crochet summer tops and tanks, lightweight blankets and other summer crochet projects. This stitch can also be used in decorative crochet projects for the home.
This crochet stitch tutorial includes detailed photo instructions. The lacy aligned scallop stitch is a repeat of two rows. For this crochet stitch you should know how to make single crochet and double crochet. The tutorial below shows how to make a treble crochet.
Materials and tools
Yarn: For this tutorial I use Hjertegarn DIAMOND mercerized cotton 100 % 8/4 50 g, color: 3304 (lilac). However, you can use your favorite yarn depending on the crochet project.
Hook: I use a 2.0 mm hook. If you are using a different yarn, choose the hook size that is recommended on your yarn label.

Photo instructions for the lacy aligned scallop stitch
Row 1
1. Start by chaining a multiple of six. You will start working in the seventh chain from your hook.
2. So, make a single crochet in the seventh chain from your hook.
3. Chain four.
4. Skip two stitches and make a single crochet in the next stitch.
5. Then repeat. Chain four.
6. Skip two stitches and make a single crochet in the next stitch.
7. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row until you have two stitches left.
8. Then chain two.
9. Make a double crochet in the last stitch.
Row 2
10. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.
11. Make a single crochet in the first stitch. Next you will make a scallop stitch.
12. You will start by making a treble crochet in the next chain four space. So, yarn over twice.
13. Insert your hook in the chain four space and yarn over.
14. Pull the yarn through. Now you have four loops on your hook.
15. Yarn over.
16. Pull the yarn through the first two loops. Now you have three loops on your hook.
17. Yarn over.
18. Pull the yarn through the first two loops. Now you have two loops on your hook.
19. Yarn over.
20. Pull the yarn through both loops. You have just made a treble crochet.
21. Chain one.
22. Make the second treble crochet in the same chain four space.
23. Chain one and make the third treble crochet in the same chain four space.
24. Chain one and make the fourth treble crochet.
25. Chain one and make the fifth treble crochet in the same chain four space. You have just made a scallop!
26. Make a single crochet in the next chain four space.
27. Then make another scallop in the next chain four space in the same way as before.
28. Make a single crochet in the next chain four space.
29. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.
30. At the end of the row make the last single crochet in the turning chain space.
Row 3
31. Chain five and turn your work around.
32. Make a single crochet in the second treble crochet of the previous row.
33. Chain four.
34. Skip the next treble crochet and make a single crochet in the next treble crochet.
35. Then repeat. Chain four.
36. Make a single crochet in the second treble crochet of the next scallop.
37. Chain four.
38. Skip the next treble crochet and make a single crochet in the next treble crochet.
39. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.
40. Then chain two and make a double crochet in the last stitch. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-3.
