Large tilted squares stitch

In this step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the large tilted squares stitch. This crochet stitch tutorial includes detailed photo instructions. For this crochet stitch you should know how to make a single crochet. The tutorial below shows how to make a treble crochet and a treble crochet three together. The large tilted squares stitch is a repeat of two rows. The fabric has turns out light and lacy.

Row 1

1. Start by chaining a multiple of seven plus two. You will start working in the second chain from your hook.

2. So, make a single crochet in the second chain from your hook.

3. Chain five. Next you will skip one stitch and make a treble crochet in the next stitch.

4. So, yarn over twice.

5. Skip one stitch and insert your hook in the next stitch, yarn over and pull the yarn through. Now you have four loops on your hook.

6. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the first two loops. Now you have three loops on your hook.

7. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the first two loops. Now you have two loops on your hook.

8. Yarn over and pull the yarn through both loops. You have just made a treble crochet.

9. Chain two.

10. Skip four stitches and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

11. Then repeat. Chain five.

12. Skip one stitch and make a treble crochet in the next stitch.

13. Chain two.

14. Skip four stitches and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

15. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row. The row should end with a single crochet.

Row 2

16. Chain five and turn your work around.

17. Make three treble crochets in the first stitch.

18. Make a single crochet in the next chain five space.

19. Chain four.

20. Make four treble crochets in the same chain five space.

21. Make a single crochet in the next chain five space.

22. Then repeat. Chain four.

23. Make four treble crochets in the same chain five space.

24. Make a single crochet in the next chain five space.

25. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

26. Then chain four. Next you will make a treble crochet three together working in the same chain five space and in the last stitch.

27. You will make the first leg in the chain five space. So, yarn over twice.

28. Insert your hook in the chain five space, yarn over and pull the yarn through. Now you have four loops on your hook.

29. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the first two loops. Now you have three loops on your hook.

30. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the first two loops. Now you have two loops on your hook and the first leg is ready.

31. Next you will make the second leg in the same chain five space. So, yarn over twice.

32. Insert your hook in the chain five space, yarn over and pull the yarn through. Now you have five loops on your hook.

33. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the first two loops. You have four loops on your hook.

34. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the first two loops. The second leg is ready.

35. Next you will make the third leg in the last stitch. So, yarn over twice.

36. Insert your hook in the last stitch, yarn over and pull the yarn through. You have six loops on your hook.

37. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the first two loops. You have five loops on your hook.

38. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the first two loops. Now you have four loops on your hook and the third leg is ready.

39. Yarn over and pull the yarn through all loops. You have just made a treble crochet three together!

Row 3

40. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

41. Make a single crochet in the first stitch.

42. Chain five.

43. Make a treble crochet in the chain four space.

44. Chain two.

45. Make a single crochet in the next chain four space.

46. Then repeat. Chain five.

47. Make a treble crochet in the same chain four space.

48. Chain two.

49. Make a single crochet in the next chain four space.

50. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

51. At the end of the row make the last single crochet in the turning chain. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-3.
