In this step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the aligned lotus stitch. This crochet stitch tutorial includes detailed photo instructions. For this crochet stitch you should know how to make a single crochet and a double crochet. The tutorial below shows how to make a puff stitch. The aligned lotus stitch is a repeat of two rows. The fabric has a very nice texture and it is light.
For this tutorial I use Hjertegarn DIAMOND mercerized cotton 100% 8/4 50 g yarn, color: 3304 (lilac), and a 2.0 mm hook.

Photo instructions for the aligned lotus stitch
Row 1

1. Start by chaining a multiple of ten plus five. You will start working in the fourth chain from your hook.

2. So, make a double crochet in the fourth chain from your hook.

3. Then make another double crochet in the next stitch. Next you will skip three stitches and make a puff stitch.

4. So, yarn over.

5. Skip three stitches, insert your hook in the next stitch and yarn over.

6. Pull the yarn through. Now you have three loops on your hook.

7. Yarn over.

8. Insert your hook in the same stitch and yarn over.

9. Pull the yarn through. Now you have five loops on your hook.

10. Yarn over.

11. Insert your hook in the same stitch and yarn over.

12. Pull the yarn through. Now you have seven loops on your hook.

13. Yarn over.

14. Pull the yarn through the first six loops on your hook. Now you have two loops on your hook.

15. Yarn over.

16. Pull the yarn through both loops. You have just made a puff stitch!

17. Chain three.

18. Then make the second puff stitch in the same stitch.

19. Chain three.

20. Make the third puff stitch in the same stitch.

21. Skip three stitches and make three double crochets in the next three stitches.

22. Then repeat. Skip three stitches and make a puff stitch in the next stitch.

23. Chain three.

24. Make a puff stitch in the same stitch.

25. Chain three.

26. Make another puff stitch in the same stitch.

27. Then skip three stitches and make three double crochets in the next three stitches.

28. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row. The row should end with three double crochets.
Row 2

29. Chain three and turn your work around. Chain three counts as a stitch.

30. Make a double crochet in the second stitch.

31. Then make another double crochet in the next stitch.

32. Chain three.

33. Make a single crochet in the middle puff stitch of the previous row.

34. Chain three.

35. Make three double crochets in the next three double crochets of the previous row.

36. Then repeat. Chain three and make a single crochet in the middle puff stitch of the previous row.

37. Chain three and make three double crochets in the next three double crochets.

38. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

39. At the end of the row make the last double crochet in the turning chain.
Row 3

40. Chain three and turn your work around. Chain three counts as a stitch.

41. Make a double crochet in the second stitch and another double crochet in the next stitch.

42. Then make a puff stitch in the next single crochet of the previous row.

43. Chain three.

44. Make another puff stitch in the same stitch.

45. Chain three.

46. Then make one more puff stitch in the same stitch.

47. Make three double crochets in the next three double crochets.

48. Then repeat. In the next single crochet make a puff stitch, chain three, another puff stitch, chain three and the third puff stitch.

49. Make three double crochets in the next three double crochets.

50. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

51. At the end of the row make the last double crochet in the turning chain. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-3.
