The cluster V stitch

In this step-by-step tutorial I show how to make the cluster V crochet stitch. This stitch consists of chains and double crochets two together (dc2tog). The fabric turns out quite light and it goes fast to make this stitch. In this tutorial I used two colors, however you can also make it with more colors or just with one color. All options look great! 🙂

For this tutorial I use Hjertegarn DIAMOND mercerized cotton 100% 8/4 50g yarn, colors: 3304 (lilac) and 3803 (light lilac), and a 2.0 mm hook.

Photo instructions for the cluster V crochet stitch

Row 1

1. Start by chaining multiples of three plus two chains.

2. Now you will have to make a double crochet two together in the sixth chain from your hook. So, yarn over.

3. Then insert your hook in the sixth chain from your hook.

4. Yarn over.

5. Pull the yarn through. Now you have three loops on your hook.

6. Yarn over.

7. Pull the yarn through the first two loops on your hook. Now you have two loops on your hook.

8. Yarn over.

9. Then insert your hook in the same stitch where you have just worked in.

10. Yarn over.

11. Pull the yarn through. Now you have four loops on your hook.

12. Yarn over again.

13. Pull the yarn through the first two loops on your hook. Now you have three loops on your hook.

14. Yarn over.

15. Pull the yarn through all three loops. You have just made a double crochet two together.

16. Chain one.

17. Then make one more double crochet two together in the same stitch where you made the first one. The first cluster V stitch is completed!

18. Skip two chains and make a double crochet two together.

19. Chain one.

20. Make another double crochet two together in the same stitch.

21. Keep working in the same way until the end of the row: skip two stitches and make a cluster V stitch.

22. In the last stitch of the row make a double crochet.

23. For row 2 I change yarn color. You can continue working with the same yarn if you prefer. In this case, just chain three and turn your work around. If you want to change color too, chain one with the second color yarn.

24. Then pull the end of the first color yarn to tighten and secure the second yarn. Now it is ready to use.

25. Chain three.

Row 3

26. Then turn your work around. In row 2 you will work in chain one spaces of the previous row (in the middle of the cluster V stitch).

27. So, make a double crochet two together in the chain one space of the previous row.

28. Chain one.

29. Then make another double crochet two together in the same chain one space.

30. Make another cluster V stitch in the next chain one space.

31. Keep working in the same way until the end of the row: make cluster V stitches in every chain one space.

32. In the end of the row make a double crochet in the turning chain of the previous row. For the rest of the pattern repeat row 2.

Finished cluster V crochet stitch

33. Done!
