In this step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the lace and diagonal block stitch. This crochet stitch tutorial includes detailed photo instructions. For this crochet stitch you should know how to make a single crochet and a double crochet. The lace and diagonal block stitch is a repeat of four rows. The fabric has a beautiful texture and it turns out quite light.

Row 1

1. Start by chaining a multiple of six plus two. You will start working in the second chain from your hook.

2. So, make a single crochet in the second chain from your hook.

3. Make another single crochet in the next stitch.

4. Chain five.

5. Skip three stitches and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

6. Make two more single crochets in the next two stitches.

7. Chain five.

8. Skip three stitches and make three single crochets in the next three stitches.

9. Then repeat: chain five and make three single crochets in the next three stitches.

10. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row. At the end of the row chain five as usually.

11. Then skip three stitches and make two single crochets in the last two stitches.
Row 2

12. Chain three and turn your work around. Chain three counts as a stitch.

13. Make a double crochet in the second stitch.

14. Chain one.

15. Then make a single crochet in the third chain of the chain five.

16. Chain one.

17. Make three double crochets in the next three single crochets of the previous row.

18. Then repeat. Chain one.

19. Make a single crochet in the third chain of the chain five.

20. Chain one.

21. Make three double crochets in the next three single crochets.

22. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

23. At the end of the row chain one a usually.

24. Make a single crochet in the third chain of the chain five.

25. Chain one.

26. Then make two double crochets in the last two stitches.
Row 3

27. Chain five and turn your work around.

28. Make a single crochet in the first chain one space.

29. Make another single crochet in the next stitch.

30. Make the third single crochet in the next chain one space.

31. Chain five.

32. Make a single crochet in the next chain one space.

33. Make a single crochet in the next stitch.

34. Make another single crochet in the next chain one space.

35. Then repeat. Chain five.

36. Make three single crochets working in the next chain one space, the next stitch and the next chain one space.

37. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

38. At the end of the row chain two.

39. Then make a double crochet in the turning chain.
Row 4

40. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not counts as a stitch.

41. Make a single crochet in the very first stitch.

42. Chain one.

43. Then make three double crochets in the next three single crochets.

44. Chain one.

45. Make a single crochet in the third chain of the chain five.

46. Chain one.

47. Make three double crochets in the next three single crochets.

48. Then repeat. Chain one, make a single crochet in the third chain of the chain five, chain one and make three double crochets in the next three single crochets.

49. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

50. At the end of the row chain one.

51. Then make a single crochet in the third chain of the turning chain.
Row 5

52. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

53. Make a single crochet in the very first stitch.

54. Then make another single crochet in the next chain one space.

55. Chain five.

56. Make three single crochets working in the next chain one space, the next stitch and the next chain one space.

57. Then repeat: chain five and make three single crochets in the next chain one space, the next stitch and the next chain one space.

58. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row. At the end of the row chain five as usually.

59. Then make a single crochet in the last chain one space and another single crochet in the last stitch. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-5.
