In this free step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the mini tulip stitch. This stitch is a solid crochet stitch. It is also a reversible crochet stitch that looks the same on both sides. It creates dense, durable fabric and works great for washcloths, decorative pillow covers, blankets, cardigans, scarves and other projects that need warmth, structure, and durability.
This crochet stitch tutorial includes photo instructions and a video tutorial (see below). The mini tulip stitch is a one-row repeat. For this crochet stitch you should know how to make single crochet and double crochet. It is easy to make and suitable for crochet beginners.
Materials and tools
Yarn: For this tutorial I use Soft FRAYA Cotton 8/4 100% Organic cotton 50g – 180 m yarn, color: curry. However, you can use your favorite yarn depending on the crochet project.
Hook: I use a 2.0 mm hook. If you are using a different yarn, choose the hook size that is recommended on your yarn label.

Row 1
1. Start by chaining a multiple of three plus one. You will start working in the fourth chain from your hook.
2. So, make a double crochet in the fourth chain from your hook.
3. Chain two.
4. Then make a single crochet in the same stitch where you have just worked in.
5. Skip two stitches and make a double crochet in the next stitch.
6. Make the second double crochet in the same stitch.
7. Chain two.
8. Make a single crochet in the same stitch.
9. Then repeat: skip two stitches and in the next stitch make two double crochets, chain two and a single crochet.
10. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.
Row 2
11. Chain three and turn your work around. Chain three counts as a stitch.
12. Make a double crochet in the chain two space.
13. Chain two.
14. Then make a single crochet in the same chain two space.
15. Make a double crochet in the next chain two space.
16. Make the second double crochet in the same chain two space.
17. Chain two.
18. Make a single crochet in the same chain two space.
19. Then repeat: in the next chain two space make two double crochets, chain two and a single crochet.
20. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row. At the end of the row, in the last chain two space make two double crochets, chain two and a single crochet. For the rest of the pattern repeat row 2.
