In this step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the stacked puff grid stitch. This crochet stitch tutorial includes detailed photo instructions. For this crochet stitch you should know how to make a single crochet and a double crochet. The tutorial below shows how to make a puff stitch. The stacked puff grid stitch is a repeat of two rows. The fabric turns out light and lacy.

Crochet stitch tutorial: Stacked puff grid stitch

Row 1

1. Start by chaining a multiple of five plus three. You will start working in the second chain from your hook.

2. So, make a single crochet in the second chain from your hook.

3. Continue making single crochets in every stitch until the end of the row.

Row 2

4. Chain five and turn your work around. Next you will make a puff stitch in the fourth single crochet.

5. So, yarn over.

6. Insert your hook in the fourth single crochet and yarn over.

7. Pull the yarn through. Now you have three loops on your hook. Make sure to make a slightly taller loop than usual.

8. Yarn over.

9. Insert your hook in the same stitch and yarn over.

10. Pull the yarn through. Now you have five loops on your hook.

11. Yarn over.

12. Insert your hook in the same stitch and yarn over.

13. Pull the yarn through. Now you have seven loops on your hook.

14. Yarn over.

15. Pull the yarn through the first six loops on your hook. Now you have two loops on your hook.

16. Yarn over.

17. Pull the yarn through both loops. You have just made a puff stitch!

18. Chain four.

19. Skip the next four stitches and make a puff stitch in the next stitch.

20. Then repeat. Chain four, skip the next four stitches and make a puff stitch in the next stitch.

21. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row until you have three stitches left.

22. Then chain two, skip two stitches and make a double crochet in the last stitch.

Row 3

23. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

24. Make a single crochet in the first stitch.

25. Then make two single crochets in the chain two space.

26. Make a single crochet in the next puff stitch.

27. Make four single crochets in the next chain four space.

28. Make a single crochet in the next puff stitch.

29. Then repeat. Make four single crochets in the next chain four space.

30. Make a single crochet in the next puff stitch.

31. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

32. At the end of the row make three single crochets in the turning chain space. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-3.
