In this step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the verbena stitch. This crochet stitch tutorial includes detailed photo instructions. For this crochet stitch you should know how to make a single crochet and a double crochet. The tutorial below shows how to make a double crochet two together stitch. The verbena stitch is a repeat of two rows. The fabric turns out light and lacy.

Photo instructions for the verbena stitch
Row 1

1. Start by chaining a multiple of four plus two. You will start working in the second chain from your hook.

2. So, make a single crochet in the second chain from your hook.

3. Chain two. Next you will make a double crochet two together.

4. You will make the first leg in the same stitch where you have just worked in. So, yarn over.

5. Insert your hook in the same stitch and yarn over.

6. Pull the yarn through. Now you have three loops on your hook.

7. Yarn over.

8. Pull the yarn through the first two loops. Now you have two loops on your hook. The first leg is ready.

9. Next you will skip three stitches and make the second leg in the next stitch. So, yarn over.

10. Skip three stitches, insert your hook in the next stitch and yarn over.

11. Pull the yarn through. Now you have four loops on your hook.

12. Yarn over.

13. Pull the yarn through the first two loops. Now you have three loops on your hook. The second leg is ready.

14. Yarn over and pull the yarn through all loops. You have just made a double crochet two together!

15. Chain two.

16. Make a single crochet in the same stitch where you have just worked in.

17. Then repeat. Chain two.

18. Make the first leg of the double crochet two together in the same stitch where you have just worked in.

19. Skip three stitches and make the second leg in the next stitch.

20. Yarn over and pull the yarn through all three loops.

21. Chain two.

22. Make a single crochet in the same stitch.

23. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.
Row 2

24. Chain three and turn your work around. Chain three does not count as a stitch.

25. Make a double crochet in the next double crochet two together.

26. Chain two.

27. Make a single crochet in the same stitch.

28. Chain two. Next you will make a double crochet two together.

29. So, make the first leg in the same stitch where you have just worked in.

30. Make the second leg in the next double crochet two together.

31. Yarn over and complete the double crochet two together.

32. Chain two.

33. Make a single crochet in the same stitch where you have just worked in.

34. Then repeat. Chain two.

35. Make the first leg of the double crochet two together in the same stitch where you have just worked in.

36. Make the second leg in the next double crochet two together.

37. Yarn over and complete the double crochet two together.

38. Chain two and make a single crochet in the same stitch where you have just worked in.

39. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

40. Then chain two. Next you will make a double crochet two together working in the same stitch where you have just worked in and in the last stitch.

41. So, make the first leg in the same stitch where you have just worked in.

42. Make the second leg in the last single crochet of the previous row.

43. Yarn over and complete the double crochet two together.
Row 3

44. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

45. Make a single crochet in the first stitch.

46. Chain two.

47. Make the first leg of the double crochet two together in the same stitch where you have just worked in.

48. Make the second leg in the next double crochet two together and complete the stitch.

49. Chain two and make a single crochet in the same stitch.

50. Then repeat. Chain two.

51. Make the first leg of the double crochet two together in the same stitch.

52. Make the second leg in the next double crochet two together and complete the stitch.

53. Chain two and make a single crochet in the same stitch.

54. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row. Make the second leg of the last double crochet two together and the single crochet in the double crochet of the previous row. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-3.
