In this step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the chained block stitch. This crochet stitch tutorial includes detailed photo instructions. For this crochet stitch you should know how to make a single crochet and a double crochet. The chained block stitch is a repeat of two rows. This stitch is easy to make and it is suitable for beginners. The fabric turns out light.

Photo instructions for the chained block stitch
Row 1

1. Start by chaining a multiple of six plus two. You will start working in the second chain from your hook.

2. So, make a single crochet in the second chain from your hook.

3. Chain one, skip one stitch and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

4. Chain three, skip one stitch and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

5. Chain three, skip three stitches and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

6. Chain three, skip one stitch and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

7. Then repeat. Chain three, skip three stitches and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

8. Chain three, skip one stitch and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

9. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row, until you have two stitches left.

10. Then chain one, skip one stitch and make a single crochet in the last stitch.
Row 2

11. Chain three and turn your work around. Chain three counts as a stitch.

12. Make a double crochet in the next chain one space.

13. Chain one and make a single crochet in the next chain three space.

14. Chain one and make three double crochets in the next chain three space.

15. Chain one and make a single crochet in the next chain three space.

16. Then repeat. Chain one and make three double crochets in the next chain three space.

17. Chain one and make a single crochet in the next chain three space.

18. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

19. At the end of the row chain one and make a double crochet in the chain one space.

20. Then make a double crochet in the last stitch.
Row 3

21. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

22. Make a single crochet in the first stitch.

23. Chain one and make a single crochet in the next chain one space.

24. Chain three, skip the next single crochet and make a single crochet in the next chain one space.

25. Chain three, skip the next three double crochets and make a single crochet in the next chain one space.

26. Chain three, skip the next single crochet and make a single crochet in the next chain one space.

27. Then repeat. Chain three, skip the next three double crochets and make a single crochet in the next chain one space.

28. Chain three, skip the next single crochet and make a single crochet in the next chain one space.

29. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

30. At the end of the row chain one and make a single crochet in the turning chain. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-3.
