In this step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the striped moss stitch. This crochet stitch tutorial includes detailed photo instructions. For this crochet stitch you should know how to make a single crochet and a double crochet. The striped moss stitch is a repeat of four rows. The fabric turns out dense has a nice texture.

Photo instructions for the striped moss stitch
Row 1

1. Start by chaining an odd number of chains. You will start working in the fourth chain from your hook.

2. So, make two double crochets in the fourth chain from your hook.

3. Skip one stitch and make two double crochets in the next stitch.

4. Then repeat. Skip one stitch and make two double crochets in the next stitch.

5. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row, until you have one stitch left.

6. Then make a double crochet in the last stitch.
Row 2

7. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

8. Make a single crochet in the first stitch.

9. Chain one, skip the next two double crochets and make a single crochet in between two double crochets.

10. Then repeat. Chain one, skip the next two double crochets and make a single crochet in between two stitches.

11. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

12. At the end of the row chain one and make a single crochet in the turning chain.
Row 3

13. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

14. Make a single crochet in the first stitch.

15. Make a single crochet in the next chain one space.

16. Chain one and make a single crochet in the next chain one space.

17. Then repeat. Chain one and make a single crochet in the next chain one space.

18. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

19. At the end of the row make a single crochet in the last stitch.
Row 4

20. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

21. Make a single crochet in the first stitch.

22. Chain one and make a single crochet in the next chain one space.

23. Then repeat. Chain one and make a single crochet in the next chain one space.

24. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

25. At the end of the row chain one and make a single crochet in the last stitch.
Row 5

26. Chain three and turn your work around. Chain three counts as a stitch.

27. Make two double crochets in the next chain one space.

28. Then repeat. Make two double crochets in the next chain one space.

29. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

30. At the end of the row make a double crochet in the last stitch. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-5.
