In this step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the checkered tilted block stitch. This crochet stitch tutorial includes detailed photo instructions. Row 1

1. Start by chaining a multiple of ten plus nine. You will start working in the fourth chain from your hook.

2. So, make a double crochet in the fourth chain from your hook.

3. Make four more double crochets in the next four stitches.

4. Skip two stitches and make a double crochet in the next stitch.

5. Chain three. Next you will make a double crochet working around the post of the double crochet that you have just made.

6. So, yarn over.

7. Insert your hook grabbing the post of the double crochet and yarn over.

8. Pull the yarn through. Now you have three loops on your hook.

9. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the first two loops.

10. Yarn over and pull the yarn through both loops.

11. Make two more double crochets working around the same post.

12. Skip two stitches and make five double crochets in the next five stitches.

13. Then repeat. Skip two stitches and make a double crochet.

14. Chain three.

15. Make three double crochets working around the post of the double crochet that you have just made.

16. Skip two stitches and make five double crochets in the next five stitches.

17. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row until you have one stitch left.

18. Then make a double crochet in the last stitch.
Row 2

19. Chain three and turn your work around. Chain three counts as a stitch.

20. Make a double crochet in the second stitch.

21. Make four more double crochets in the next four stitches.

22. Chain two and make a single crochet in the next chain three space.

23. Chain two and make five double crochets in the next five double crochets.

24. Then repeat. Chain two and make a single crochet in the next chain three space.

25. Chain two and make five double crochets in the next five double crochets.

26. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

27. At the end of the row make a double crochet in the turning chain.
Row 3

28. Chain three and turn your work around. Chain three counts as a stitch.

29. Make a double crochet in the fourth stitch.

30. Chain three.

31. Make three double crochets working around the post of the double crochet that you have just made.

32. Make two double crochets in the next chain two space.

33. Make a double crochet in the next stitch.

34. Make two double crochets in the next chain two space.

35. Skip the next two stitches and make a double crochet in the next stitch.

36. Chain three and make three double crochets working around the post of the double crochet that you have just made.

37. Then repeat. Make two double crochets in the next chain two space.

38. Make a double crochet in the next stitch and two double crochets in the next chain two space.

39. Skip two stitches and make a double crochet in the next stitch.

40. Chain three and make three double crochets working around the post of the double crochet that you have just made.

41. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

42. At the end of the row make a double crochet in the turning chain.

43. Chain five and turn your work around.

44. Make a single crochet in the next chain three space.

49. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

50. At the end of the row chain two and make a double crochet in the turning chain.
Row 5

51. Chain three and turn your work around. Chain three counts as a stitch.

52. Make two double crochets in the next chain two space.

53. Make a double crochet in the next stitch and two double crochets in the next chain two space.

54. Skip the next two double crochets and make a double crochet in the next one.

55. Chain three and make three double crochets working around the post of the double crochet that you have just made.

56. Then repeat. Make two double crochets in the next chain two space.

57. Make a double crochet in the next stitch and two double crochets in the next chain two space.

58. Skip the next two stitches and make a double crochet in the next stitch.

59. Chain three and make three double crochets working around the post of the double crochet that you have just made.

60. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

61. At the end of the row make two double crochets in the next chain two space and a double crochet in the next stitch.

62. Then make three double crochets in the turning chain space. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-5.
