Crochet zipper pouch for sunglasses Caroline

Here is a free pattern for a crochet zipper pouch for sunglasses Caroline. It is very easy to make and it looks gorgeous! You can easily adjust the size of this pouch depending on the the size of your sunglasses.

Changing yarn color every row gives this pouch a beautiful color pattern. The texture of the pouch is also very nice and dense. You can choose whether you want to attach lining. In case you do, I have a tutorial showing how to sew in a zipper and attach lining here.

Good luck!

Notes

The size of my crochet zipper pouch is 16.5 x 8.5 cm. You will work in continuous rounds which means that you will not join with a slip stitch at the end of each round. This pattern uses the two single crochet stitch. Photo instructions below show how to make this stitch. You can easily adjust the size of your pouch by chaining more or less in the beginning (it can be any number of chains). Make sure not to make the pouch too tight for your sunglasses: it is a good idea to make the chain 2 or 3 cm longer than the length of your sunglasses. You can repeat rounds until you reach the desired height of the pouch.

You have to change yarn color for every round starting from round 3 (introducing light beige yarn) to round 30 (it should be petrol). Round 31 should be petrol.

After a few rounds you will notice that the start of each round is slightly moving to the left, that is fine.

Pattern

Start by chaining 46 with petrol yarn (you can make any number of chains until you reach the desired length of your pouch).

Round 1: To make the first round, you will be working down the chain, then turn and work on the other side of the chain. Make sc in every st of the chain starting from the second chain from your hook. Turn. 1 sc in the end of the chain, make sc in every st (starting with the one you have just worked into; now that st has 3 sc in total) until you come back to the beginning of the chain. 1 sc in the end of the chain. In total you should have 92 st. For this round you need an odd number of stitches in a round. So, make 1 sc in the chain that is in the beginning of the round. Now you have 93 st.

Round 2: two single crochet stitch (see photo instructions): make two sc in the center of the next stitch, *skip one st, make two sc in the center of the next stitch*, rep ** until the end of the round.

Round 3: Change yarn color, *skip one st, make two sc in the center of the next stitch*, rep ** until the end of the round.

Round 4-30: repeat round 3.

Round 31: sc in every st until you have 1 st left. 3 sl st in the back loop only in the next 3 st.

Fasten off and sew in a zipper.

You can find a tutorial showing how to sew in a zipper and attach lining here.

15. Then skip one stitch and make another single crochet in the center of the next stitch.

16. Make one more single crochet in the center of the same stitch.

17. Continue working in the same way until the end of he round: skip one stitch and make two single crochets in the center of the next stitch.

18. When you reach the end of the round, complete the last stitch with beige yarn.

Round 3

25. After a while your work will start looking like this.

Round 30

26. When you complete round 30, don’t change yarn color.

27. Make single crochets in every stitch until you have one stitch left.

28. Next you will make a slip stitch in the back loop only in the last stitch of this round.

29. So, insert your hook in the next stitch grabbing just the back loop.

30. Yarn over.

31. Pull the yarn through. Now you have two loops on your hook.

32. Pull the first loop through the second one. You have just made a slip stitch back loop only.

33. Make two more slip stiches in the back loop only in the next two stitches.

Fastening off

34. Then cut your yarn and take a tapestry needle. Skip one stitch and insert the needle in the next one like it is shown in the picture.

35. Pull the yarn through. Then insert your needle in the center of the stitch where the yarn is coming from.

36. Pull the yarn through. In this way the connection of the round is hard to notice and this gives a nice finished look. Fasten off and sew in a zipper. If you are not sure how to sew in a zipper and attach lining, you can take a look at the tutorial here.
