In this free step-by-step photo tutorial I show how to make a double crochet two together (dc2tog) and a double crochet three together (dc3tog). It is similar to a double crochet (dc), just instead of finishing a double crochet, work it up to the last step, then work the second double crochet in the next stitch up to the last step, then the third, the fourth, as many as you need, all up to the last step. Then yarn over and pull the yarn through all loops on your hook.
The same applies if you want to connect any other stitches together: work them up to the last step and then connect them by yarning over and pulling the yarn through all loops on your hook. If you would like to practice, I use a double crochet three together (dc3tog), a double crochet four together (dc4tog) and a double crochet six together (dc6tog) in my winter coaster.
Materials and tools
Yarn: For this tutorial I use Hjertegarn DIAMOND mercerized cotton 100% 8/4 50g, color: 361 (grey). However, you can use your favorite yarn depending on the crochet project.
Hook: I use a 2.0 mm hook. If you are using a different yarn, choose the hook size that is recommended on your yarn label.

Row 1

1. Start by chaining a multiple of six plus three. You will start working in the second chain from your hook.

2. So, make a single crochet in the second chain from your hook.

3. Continue making single crochets in every stitch until the end of the row.
Row 2

4. Chain four and turn your work around. Next you will make a double crochet two together working in the second and in the third stitch.

5. So, yarn over.

6. Insert your hook in the second stitch and yarn over.

7. Pull the yarn through. Now you have three loops on your hook.

8. Yarn over.

9. Pull the yarn through the first two loops. Now you have two loops on your hook. The first leg is ready.

10. Yarn over.

11. Insert your hook in the next stitch and yarn over.

12. Pull the yarn through. Now you have four loops on your hook.

13. Yarn over.

14. Pull the yarn through the first two loops on your hook. Now you have three loops on your hook. The second leg is ready.

15. Yarn over.

16. Pull the yarn through both loops. You have just made a double crochet two together!

17. Chain one.

18. Make another double crochet two together working in the next two stitches.

19. Then repeat. Chain one.

20. Make a double crochet two together working in the next two stitches.

21. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row until you have one stitch left.

22. Then make a double crochet in the last stitch.
Row 3

23. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

24. Make a single crochet in the very first stitch.

25. Make a single crochet in the next stitch.

26. Make a single crochet in the chain one space.

27. Make a single crochet in the next stitch.

28. Then repeat: make a single crochet in the next chain one space and a single crochet in the next stitch.

29. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

30. At the end of the row make two single crochets in the turning chain space.
Row 4

31. Chain four and turn your work around. Next you will make a double crochet three together working in the second, the third and the fourth stitch.

32. So, yarn over.

33. Insert your hook in the second stitch and yarn over.

34. Pull the yarn through. Now you have three loops on your hook.

35. Yarn over.

36. Pull the yarn through the first two loops. Now you have two loops on your hook. The first leg is ready.

37. Yarn over.

38. Insert your hook in the next stitch and yarn over.

39. Pull the yarn through. Now you have four loops on your hook.

40. Yarn over.

41. Pull the yarn through the first two loops. Now you have three loops on your hook. The second leg is ready.

42. Yarn over.

43. Insert your hook in the next stitch and yarn over.

44. Pull the yarn through. Now you have five loops on your hook.

45. Yarn over.

46. Pull the yarn through the first two loops. Now you have four loops on your hook. The third leg is ready.

47. Yarn over.

48. Pull the yarn through all three loops. You have just made a double crochet three together!

49. Chain two.

50. Make another double crochet three together working in the next three stitches.

51. Then repeat. Chain two.

52. Make a double crochet three together working in the next three stitches.

53. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

54. At the end of the row chain one.

55. Then make a double crochet in the last stitch.
Row 5

56. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

57. Make a single crochet in the very first stitch.

58. Make a single crochet in the chain one space.

59. Make a single crochet in the next stitch.

60. Make two single crochets in the next chain two space.

61. Make a single crochet in the next stitch.

62. Then repeat: make two single crochets in the next chain two space and a single crochet in the next stitch.

63. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

64. At the end of the row make two single crochets in the turning chain space. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-5.
Finished double crochet two together and double crochet three together

65. Done!
