In this step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the eye stitch. This crochet stitch tutorial includes detailed photo instructions. For this crochet stitch you should know how to make a single crochet and a double crochet. The tutorial below shows how to make a double crochet two together stitch (dc2tog). The eye stitch is a repeat of four rows. The fabric turns out light and lacy.

Photo instructions for the eye stitch
Row 1

1. Start by chaining a multiple of ten plus two. You will start working in the second chain from your hook.

2. So, make a single crochet in the second chain from your hook.

3. Continue making single crochets in every stitch until the end of the row.
Row 2

4. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

5. Make a single crochet in the first stitch.

6. Make two single crochets in the next two stitches.

7. Chain three. Next you will skip two stitches and make a double crochet two together in the next stitch.

8. So, yarn over.

9. Skip two stitches, insert your hook in the next stitch and yarn over.

10. Pull the yarn through. Now you have three loops on your hook.

11. Yarn over.

12. Pull the yarn through the first two loops. The first leg of the double crochet two together is ready.

13. Yarn over.

14. Insert your hook in the same stitch and yarn over.

15. Pull the yarn through. Now you have four loops on your hook.

16. Yarn over.

17. Pull the yarn through the first two loops. Now you have three loops on your hook. The second leg is ready.

18. Yarn over and pull the yarn through all loops. You have just made a double crochet two together.

19. Chain three.

20. Skip two stitches and make five single crochets in the next five stitches.

21. Then repeat. Chain three.

22. Skip two stitches and make a double crochet two together in the next stitch.

23. Chain three, skip two stitches and make five single crochets in the next five stitches.

24. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

25. The row should end with three single crochets made in the last three stitches.
Row 3

26. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

27. Make a single crochet in the first stitch.

28. Make two single crochets in the next two stitches.

29. Make three single crochets in the next chain three space.

30. Make a single crochet in the next stitch.

31. Make three single crochets in the next chain three space.

32. Make five single crochets in the next five stitches.

33. Then repeat. Make three single crochets in the next chain three space and one more in the next stitch.

34. Make three single crochets in the next chain three space.

35. Make five single crochets in the next five stitches.

36. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

37. At the end of the row make three single crochets in the last chain three space.

38. Then make three single crochets in the last three stitches.
Row 4

39. Chain six and turn your work around.

40. Make a single crochet in the fifth single crochet.

41. Then make four single crochets in the next four stitches.

42. Chain three, skip three stitches and make a double crochet two together in the next stitch.

43. Chain three, skip three stitches and make five single crochets in the next five stitches.

44. Then repeat. Chain three, skip three stitches and make a double crochet two together in the next stitch.

45. Chain three, skip three stitches and make five single crochets in the next five stitches.

46. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row until you have four stitches left.

47. Then chain three, skip three stitches and make a double crochet in the last stitch.
Row 5

48. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

49. Make a single crochet in the first stitch.

50. Make three single crochets in the next chain three space.

51. Make five single crochets in the next five stitches.

52. Then repeat. Make three single crochets in the next chain three space and a single crochet in the next stitch.

53. Make three single crochets in the next chain three space and five single crochets in the next five stitches.

54. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

55. At the end of the row make four single crochets in the turning chain space.
Row 6

56. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

57. Make a single crochet in the first stitch.

58. Make two single crochets in the next two stitches.

59. Chain three, skip three stitches and make a double crochet two together in the next stitch.

60. Chain three, skip three stitches and make five single crochets in the next five stitches.

61. Then repeat. Chain three, skip three stitches and make a double crochet two together in the next stitch.

62. Chain three, skip three stitches and make five single crochets in the next five stitches.

63. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row. The row should end with three single crochets. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 3-6.
