In this free step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the striped half double crochet mesh stitch. This stitch is a lacy crochet stitch. The fabric turns out light and breathable. Materials and tools
Yarn: For this tutorial I use Soft FRAYA Cotton 8/4 100% Organic cotton 50g – 180 m yarn, color: sand. However, you can use your favorite yarn depending on the crochet project.
Hook: I use a 2.0 mm hook. If you are using a different yarn, choose the hook size that is recommended on your yarn label.

Row 1

1. Start by chaining an odd number of chains. You will start working in the third chain from your hook.

2. So, make a half double crochet in the third chain from your hook.

3. Chain one, skip one stitch and make a half double crochet in the next stitch.

4. Then repeat. Chain one, skip one stitch and make a half double crochet in the next stitch.

5. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.
Row 2

6. Chain two and turn your work around. Chain two does not count as a stitch.

7. Make a half double crochet in the first stitch.

8. Make a half double crochet in the chain one space.

9. Make a half double crochet in the next stitch.

10. Then repeat. Make a half double crochet in the next chain one space.

11. Make a half double crochet in the next stitch.

12. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

13. At the end of the row make the last half double crochet in the last stitch.
Row 3

14. Chain two and turn your work around. Chain two does not count as a stitch.

15. Make a half double crochet in the first stitch.

16. Chain one, skip one stitch and make a half double crochet in the next stitch.

17. Then repeat. Chain one, skip one stitch and make a half double crochet in the next stitch.

18. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

19. At the end of the row chain one as usual, skip one stitch and make the last half double crochet in the last stitch. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-3.
