Floret stitch

In this tutorial I show how to make the floret stitch working in rows. For this stitch you need to know how to make a chain, a slip stitch and a double crochet. It is a repeat of two rows.

Photo instructions for the floret crochet stitch

Row 1

1. Make an even number of chains and then add three more chains. You will start working in the fourth chain from your hook.

2. So, make a double crochet in the fourth chain from your hook (in the back of the chain).

3. Keep making double crochets in every stitch until the end of the row.

Row 2

4. Chain one.

5. Turn you work around. Now you will have to make a slip stitch in the very first stitch like it is shown in the picture.

6. So, insert your hook in the first stitch (the last double crochet in the previous row) and yarn over.

7. Pull the yarn through.

8. Then make a double crochet in the next stitch.

9. Make a slip stitch in the next stitch.

10. Make a double crochet in the next stitch.

11. Keep alternating slip stitches and double crochets until the end of the row.

12. Your last stitch should be the slip stitch – make it into the turning chain three that you made in the beginning of the previous row.

Row 3

13. Then chain three (it counts as a double crochet).

14. Turn your work around, skip one stitch (since turning chain three counts as a double crochet) and make a double crochet in the next stitch (a double crochet of the previous row).

15. It might be difficult to see where are the tops of stiches of the previous row. If you would look on the other side, you could see them more clearly.

16. Keep making double crochets in every stitch until the end of the row.

17. Finish the row by making the final double crochet in the slip stich of the previous row.

18. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2 and 3. Done!
