In this step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the ridged ripple stitch. This crochet stitch tutorial includes detailed photo instructions. For this crochet stitch you should know how to make a double crochet. The tutorial below shows how to make a double crochet two together, a double crochet back loop only and a double crochet two together back loop only. The ridged ripple stitch is a repeat of one row. This stitch looks great in two colors or in multiple colors. The fabric is solid and it has a beautiful texture.

Photo instructions for the ridged ripple stitch
Row 1

1. Start by chaining a multiple of twelve plus three with curry yarn. You will start working in the fourth chain from your hook.

2. So, make a double crochet in the fourth chain from your hook.

3. Make three double crochets in the next three stitches.

4. Next you will make a double crochet two together working in the next two stitches. So, yarn over.

5. Insert your hook in the next stitch and yarn over.

6. Pull the yarn through. Now you have three loops on your hook.

7. Yarn over.

8. Pull the yarn through the first two loops. Now you have two loops on your hook. The first leg is ready.

9. Yarn over.

10. Insert your hook in the next stitch and yarn over.

11. Pull the yarn through. Now you have four loops on your hook.

12. Pull the yarn through the first two loops. The second leg is ready.

13. Yarn over and pull the yarn through all three loops. You have just made a double crochet two together!

14. Make another double crochet two together working in the next two stitches.

15. Make three double crochets in the next three stitches.

16. Make two double crochets in the next stitch.

17. Then repeat. Make two double crochets in the next stitch.

18. Make three double crochets in the next three stitches.

19. Make a double crochet two together working in the next two stitches.

20. Make another double crochet two together working in the next two stitches.

21. Make three double crochets in the next three stitches.

22. Make two double crochets in the next stitch.

23. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row. The row should end with two double crochets made in the last stitch.
Row 2

24. Chain three and turn your work around. Chain three counts as a stitch.

25. In row 2 you will work only in the back loops.

26. You will make a double crochet back loop only in the first stitch. So, yarn over.

27. Insert your hook in the first stitch grabbing just the back loop.

28. Yarn over and pull the yarn through. Now you have three loops on your hook.

29. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the first two loops. Now you have two loops on your hook.

30. Yarn over and pull the yarn through both loops. You have just made a double crochet back loop only!

31. Make three double crochets back loop only in the next three stitches.

32. Next you will make a double crochet two together back loop only. So, make the first leg in the next stitch grabbing only the back loop.

33. Then make the second leg in the next stitch grabbing only the back loop.

34. Yarn over and pull the yarn through all three loops. You have just made a double crochet two together back loop only!

35. Make another double crochet two together back loop only working in the next two stitches.

36. Make three double crochets back loop only in the next three stitches.

37. Make two double crochets back loop only in the next stitch.

38. Then repeat. Make two double crochets back loop only in the next stitch.

39. Make three double crochets back loop only in the next three stitches.

40. Make a double crochet two together back loop only working in the next two stitches.

41. Make another double crochet two together back loop only working in the next two stitches.

42. Make three double crochets back loop only in the next three stitches.

43. Make two double crochets back loop only in the next stitch.

44. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

45. At the end of the row make two double crochets in the turning chain.

46. Next you have to change yarn color. So, chain one with dusty aubergine yarn.

47. Pull the end end of the curry yarn to tighten and secure the dusty aubergine yarn. Now the dusty aubergine yarn is ready to use.
Row 3

48. Chain three and turn your work around. Then repeat row 2.

49. For the rest of the pattern repeat row 2 changing yarn color every two rows.

50. This is how it looks on the other side.
