Striped boxed V stitch

In this free step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the striped boxed V stitch. The striped boxed V stitch is a solid crochet stitch. It creates dense, but not very thick fabric. It works great for washcloths, scarves and other projects that need durability.

Materials and tools

Yarn: For this tutorial I use Soft FRAYA Cotton 8/4 100% Organic cotton 50g – 180 m yarn, color: dusty pink. However, you can use your favorite yarn depending on the crochet project.

Hook: I use a 2.0 mm hook. If you are using a different yarn, choose the hook size that is recommended on your yarn label.

Photo instructions for the striped boxed V stitch

Row 1

1. Start by chaining a multiple of four plus three. You will start working in the fourth chain from your hook.

2. So, make a double crochet in the fourth chain from your hook.

3. Continue making double crochets in every stitch until the end of the row.

Row 2

4. Chain three and turn your work around. Chain three counts as a stitch.

5. Make a double crochet in the third double crochet of the previous row.

6. Chain one and make another double crochet in the same stitch.

7. Skip one stitch and make a double crochet in the next stitch.

8. Skip one stitch and make a double crochet in the next stitch.

9. Chain one and make another double crochet in the same stitch.

10. Skip one stitch and make a double crochet in the next stitch.

11. Then repeat. Skip one stitch and make a double crochet in the next stitch.

12. Chain one and make another double crochet in the same stitch.

13. Skip one stitch and make a double crochet in the next stitch.

14. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

15. At the end of the row make the last double crochet in the turning chain.

Row 3

16. Chain three and turn your work around. Chain three counts as a stitch.

17. Make a double crochet in the second stitch.

18. Make a double crochet in the next chain one space.

19. Then repeat. Make three double crochets in the next three stitches.

20. Make a double crochet in the next chain one space.

21. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

22. At the end of the row make a double crochet in the last double crochet.

23. Then make a double crochet in the turning chain. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-3.
