The little combs stitch

In this step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the little combs stitch. This crochet stitch tutorial includes photo instructions and a video tutorial (see below). For this crochet stitch you should know how to make a single crochet and a half double crochet. The little combs stitch is a repeat of two rows and it is suitable for beginners. The fabric turns out dense but not very thick and it has a nice texture.

For this tutorial I use Soft FRAYA Cotton 8/4 100% Organic cotton 50g – 180 m yarn, color: eucalyptus, and a 2.0 mm hook.

Row 1

1. Start by chaining any even number of chains. You will start working in the second chain from your hook.

2. So, make a single crochet in the second chain from your hook.

3. Chain one.

4. Skip one stitch and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

5. Chain one.

6. Skip one stitch and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

7. Then repeat: chain one, skip one stitch and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

8. The row should end with a single crochet.

Row 2

9. Chain two and turn your work around. Chain two counts as a stitch.

10. Make a half double crochet in the chain one space.

11. Then make another half double crochet in the same chain one space.

12. Make two half double crochets in the next chain one space.

13. Then repeat: make two half double crochets in the next chain one space.

14. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

15. At the end of the row make a half double crochet in the last stitch.

Row 3

16. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

17. Make a single crochet in between the first and the second half double crochet of the previous row.

18. Chain one.

19. Skip two stitches and make a single crochet in between the next two half double crochets.

20. Chain one, skip one pair of half double crochets and make a single crochet in between the half double crochets.

21. Then repeat: chain one, skip one pair of half double crochets and make a single crochet in between the half double crochets

22. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row. At the end of the row chain one as usually.

23. Then make the last single crochet in between the last half double crochet and the turning chain. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-3.

Finished little combs stitch
