In this step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the lacy zigzag fan stitch. This crochet stitch tutorial includes detailed photo instructions. For this crochet stitch you should know how to make a single crochet and a double crochet. The lacy zigzag fan stitch is a repeat of one row. It is a reversible crochet stitch and it looks the same on both sides. It is quite easy to make and it is suitable for crochet beginners.

Photo instructions for the lacy zigzag fan stitch
Row 1

1. Start by chaining a multiple of twelve plus four. You will start working in the fourth chain from your hook.

2. So, make a double crochet in the fourth chain from your hook.

3. Then make two more double crochets in the same stitch.

4. Skip five stitches and make four double crochets in the next stitch.

5. Chain three.

6. Skip two stitches and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

7. Chain three.

8. Skip two stitches and make four double crochets in the next stitch.

9. Skip five stitches and make four double crochets in the next stitch.

10. Chain three.

11. Skip two stitches and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

12. Then repeat: chain three, skip two stitches and make four double crochets in the next stitch.

13. Skip five stitches, make four double crochets in the next stitch, chain three, skip two stitches and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

14. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

15. At the end of the row chain three as usually.

16. Then skip two stitches and make a double crochet in the last stitch.
Row 2

17. Chain three and turn your work around. Chain three counts as a stitch.

18. Make three double crochets in the very first stitch.

19. Then skip the chain three, the single crochet and another chain three and make four double crochets in the next stitch.

20. Chain three.

21. Make a single crochet in between the two fans.

22. Then repeat. Chain three.

23. Skip three double crochets and make four double crochets in the next one.

24. Then make four double crochets in the next double crochet.

25. Chain three.

26. Make a single crochet in between the two fans.

27. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

28. At the end of the row chain three as usually.

29. Then make a double crochet in the turning chain. For the rest of the pattern repeat row 2.
