- rep * *: repeat from * to *

Notes
The size of my coaster is 9.5 x 9.0 cm. You will work in rows. This pattern uses the floret stitch. The photo instructions below show the main steps how to make this stitch. It consists of chains, slip stitches and double crochets.

Pattern
Start by chaining 26 (you can adjust the size by chaining more or less, just make sure that you have an even number of chains) and add three more chains.
Row 1: dc in the 4th ch from your hook, dc in every st until the end of the row.
Row 2: ch 1 (does not count as a st), sl st in the 1st st, *dc in the next st, sl st in the next st*, rep ** until the end of the row. At the end of the row make the last sl st in the turning chain.
Row 3: ch 3 (counts as a st), dc in the 2nd st, dc in every st until the end of the row.
Row 4-17: repeat rows 2 and 3.
Fasten off.
Photo instructions for an easy crochet coaster Floret
Row 1

1. Start by chaining 26 plus 3. You will start working in the fourth chain from your hook.

2. So, make a double crochet in the fourth chain from your hook.

3. Then make another double crochet in the next stitch.

4. Continue making double crochets in every stitch until the end of the row.
Row 2

5. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

6. Next you will make a slip stitch in the very first stitch. So, insert your hook in the first stitch and yarn over.

7. Pull the yarn through. Now you have two loops on your hook.

8. Pull the first loop through the second one. You have just made a slip stitch.

9. Make a double crochet in the next stitch.

10. Make a slip stitch in the next stitch.

11. Then repeat: make a double crochet in the next stitch and a slip stitch in the next one.

12. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

13. At the end of the row make the last slip stitch in the turning chain.
Row 3

14. Chain three and turn your work around. Chain three counts as a stitch.

15. It might be difficult to see where are the tops of stiches of the previous row. If you would look on the other side, you could see them more clearly.

16. Make a double crochet in the second stitch.

17. Then make a double crochet in the next stitch.

18. Continue making double crochets in every stitch until the end of the row. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-3.
