Aligned puff stitch

In this step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the aligned puff stitch. This crochet stitch tutorial includes detailed photo instructions. For this crochet stitch you should know how to make a single crochet and a half double crochet. The tutorial below shows how to make the puff stitch. The aligned puff stitch is a repeat of two rows. The fabric has a very nice texture.

For this tutorial I use Hjertegarn Diamond mercerized cotton 8/4, 50 g = 165 m, color: 603 (light blue), and a 2.0 mm hook.

Crochet stitch tutorial: Aligned puff stitch

Row 1

1. Start by chaining an even number of chains. You will start working in the second chain from your hook.

2. So, make a single crochet in the second chain from your hook.

3. Chain one.

4. Skip one stitch and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

5. Then repeat: chain one, skip one stitch and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

6. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

Row 2

7. Chain two and turn your work around. Chain two counts as a stitch.

8. Next you will make a puff stitch in the chain one space. So, yarn over.

9. Insert your hook in the chain one space and yarn over.

10. Pull the yarn through. Now you have three loops on your hook.

11. Yarn over.

12. Insert your hook in the same chain one space, yarn over and pull the yarn through. Five loops on your hook.

13. Yarn over.

14. Insert your hook in the same chain one space, yarn over and pull the yarn through. Seven loops on your hook.

15. Yarn over.

16. Insert your hook in the same chain one space, yarn over and pull the yarn through. Nine loops on your hook.

17. Yarn over.

18. Pull the yarn through all nine loops.

19. Chain one. You have just made a puff stitch!

20. Make another puff stitch in the next chain one space.

21. Then repeat: make a puff stitch in the next chain one space.

22. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

23. At the end of the row make a half double crochet in the last stitch.

Row 3

24. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

25. Make a single crochet in the chain one space.

26. Chain one.

27. Make a single crochet in the next chain one space.

28. Then repeat: chain one and make a single crochet in the next chain one space.

29. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

30. At the end of the row make the last single crochet in the turning chain. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-3.
