Trinity stitch zipper pouch Artemis

I have just made this trinity stitch zipper pouch Artemis. As usually, you can see a free pattern and detailed photo instructions below 🙂 I hope that you will like it.

It is very easy to adjust the size of this pouch: the chain that you make in the beginning should be equal to the width of your desired size pouch. Even though the trinity stitch works only with an even number of stiches, the actual number of chains is not important in this case because when you complete the first round, you will always have an even number of stitches.

You can take a look at my other free pattern for zipper pouches here.

Good luck!

Materials

  • Yarn: any thin yarn will work. I used DIAMOND mercerized cotton 100% 8/4 50g. Colors: 1361 (gray) and 3803 (light lilac).
  • Hook: as suggested on your yarn label. I used hook size 2.0.

Notes

The size of my crochet zipper pouch is 11.0 x 8.0 cm. You will be working in rounds. This pattern uses the trinity stitch. Photo instructions below show the main steps how to make this stitch. The pattern is a repeat of one round. It is very easy to adjust the size of the pouch: in the beginning make any number of chains to reach the desired width of your pouch. Then make any number of rounds until you reach the desired height.

Make sc in every st of the chain starting from the second chain from your hook. Turn. 1 sc in the end of the chain, make sc in every st (starting with the one you have just worked into; now that st has 3 sc in total) until you come back to the beginning of the chain. 1 sc in the end of the chain. Join with a sl st to the first sc of this round. In total you should have 60 st.

Round 2-13: ch 1 (it does not count as a st), sc in the very first stitch, trinity stitch until the end of the round (see photo instructions below). Join with a sl st to the sc that you made in the beginning of this round.

Photo instructions for a trinity stitch zipper pouch Artemis

1. Make 30 chains with the gray yarn. You will start working in the second chain from your hook like it is shown in the picture.

Round 1

2. So, make a single crochet in the second chain from your hook.

3. Continue making single crochets until the end of the row.

4. Turn your work and make a single crochet in the end of the chain.

5. Then make single crochets in every stitch starting with the one you have just worked into; now that stitch has 3 single crochets in total.

6. Keep making single crochets until you come back to the beginning of the chain.

7. Then make one single crochet in the end of the chain.

8. Join with a slip stitch to the first single crochet of this round. In total you should have 60 stitches.

Round 2

9. Chain one. It does not count as a stitch.

10. Then make a single crochet in the very first stitch. Now you will start making the trinity stitch: you will have to work in the very first stitch where you have just made a single crochet and the next two stitches like it is shown in the picture.

11. So, insert your hook in the very first stitch and yarn over.

12. Pull the yarn through. Now you have two loops on your hook.

13. Then insert your hook in the next stitch and yarn over.

14. Pull the yarn through. Now you have three loops on your hook.

15. Insert your hook in the next stitch and yarn over.

16. Pull the yarn through. Now you have four loops on your hook.

17. Yarn over.

18. Then pull the yarn through all four loops on your hook.

19. Chain one to close the trinity stitch. Now you will have to work in the last stitch where you have just worked in and the next two stitches like it is shown in the picture.

20. So, insert your hook in the last stitch where you have just worked in, yarn over and pull the yarn through. Now you have two loops on your hook.

21. Then insert your hook in the next stitch, yarn over and pull the yarn through. You have three loops on your hook.

22. Finally insert your hook in the next stitch, yarn over and pull the yarn through. Now you have four loops on your hook.

23. Then yarn over and pull the yarn through all four loops on your hook.

24. Chain one to close the trinity stitch. Keep working in the same way until the end of the round.

25. When you reach the end of the round, don’t close the last trinity stitch with a chain as usually.

26. Instead insert your hook in the first single crochet of this round.

27. Make a slip stitch to complete the round.

Round 3

28. Chain one. Now you will have to make a single crochet in the very first stitch like it is indicated in the picture.

29. So, make a single crochet in the very first stitch. Next you will have to work in the very first stitch where you have just made a single crochet, the next stitch (in the chain one space) and the next stitch (the trinity stitch of the previous round) like it is shown in the picture.

30. So, insert your hook in the very first stitch, yarn over and pull the yarn through. Then insert your hook in the next stitch, yarn over and pull the yarn through. Finally insert your hook in the next stitch, yarn over and pull the yarn through. Now you have four loops on your hook.

31. Yarn over and pull the yarn through all four loops on your hook. Chain one to close the trinity stitch. Next you will have to work in the last stitch where you have just worked in, the next stitch (in the chain one space) and the next stitch (the trinity stitch of the previous round).

32. So, make the next trinity stitch. Keep working in the same way until the end of the round and complete it in the same way as round 2. Repeat round 3 until round 14.

Round 14

33. In round 14 you have to change yarn color. So, take your lilac yarn.

34. Chain one with the lilac yarn. Then pull the end of the gray yarn to tighten up and secure the lilac yarn.

35. Then chain one with the lilac yarn.

36. After that work as usually, make a single crochet in the very first stitch and then continue with the trinity stitch.

Round 17

37. In round 17 you have to change yarn color back to gray. So, chain one with the gray yarn and pull the end of the lilac yarn to tighten up and secure the gray yarn.

38. Chain one and make single crochet in the next stitch. Work as usually.

Round 19

39. Chain one.

40. Make a single crochet in the very first stitch.

41. Keep making single crochets in every stitch until the end of the round.

Fastening off

42. Join with the slip stitch to the first single crochet of this round. Cut the yarn and take your tapestry needle.

43. Insert your tapestry needle in the second stitch of the previous round (not the very first one) like it is shown in the picture.

44. Pull the yarn through. Then insert your needle in the center of the last chain that you have just made like it is shown in the picture.

45. Pull the yarn through and fasten off. In this way the connection of the round is hard to notice and this gives a nice finished look. Sew in a zipper.
