This step-by-step crochet tutorial shows how to even out the edge when you work in continuous rounds in tapestry crochet.
When you work in continuous rounds, the last round will have a small step at the end, so the edge needs to be evened out. To even it out, you should make a few slip stitches.

1. When you complete the last round, there is a small step in the edge.

2. To even it out, put the yarn that you are not working with aside. Then insert your hook in the next stitch grabbing the the back loop and yarn over.

3. Pull the yarn through. Now you have two loops on your hook.

4. Then pull the first loop through the second loop on your hook. You have just made a slip stitch (back loop only).

5. Make three more slip stitches in the same way. Now the edge is a bit smoother.
