Moss stitch crochet drawstring bag

I am happy to share a free pattern for a moss stitch crochet drawstring bag. It is a pretty easy pattern except a couple of places that might seem a bit tricky, for example, making the holes for the string. Therefore, I included detailed photo instructions showing how to do that and I hope that it will be clear. In case you are in doubt, you are welcome to contact me and I will try to help you out. 🙂

If you like crochet drawstring bags as much as I do, you can take a look at my other patterns for drawstring bags: a small star stitch bag, a small alpine stitch bag and others.

Good luck!

Materials

  • Yarn: any thin yarn will work. I used Strik & smil “Art silk garn”, 100% viscose, 50 g (white and green).
  • Hook: as suggested on your yarn label. I used hook size 2.0.

Making the string

Start by chaining. The length of the chain should be around 28-29 cm long. Make a row of slip stitches in the third loop of the chain as it is shown in photo instructions below. When you reach the end of the row, fasten off. You are ready to weave in the string into your bag.

Color chart

Color chart for a crochet drawstring bag

How to read the chart

Each square represents a stitch and its color. In each round you have 56 stitches. Rows represent rounds. For each round you have to read the row in the chart from right to left. The chain that you make in the beginning of each round counts as a stitch. Red squares in the chart show where you should make holes.
