The lilac blossom stitch

In this step-by-step crochet tutorial I show how to make the lilac blossom crochet stitch. For this stitch you should know how to make a single crochet and a double crochet. The tutorial below shows how to make a front post double crochet two together and a front post double crochet four together.

Row 1

1. Start by chaining multiples of eight plus two. Then make a single crochet in the second chain from your hook.

2. Skip three stitches and make three double crochets in the next stitch.

3. Chain three.

4. Then make three more double crochets in the same stitch.

5. Skip three stitches and make a single crochet.

6. Then repeat: skip three stitches, make three double crochets in the next one, chain three and make three more double crochets in the same stitch, skip three stitches and make a single crochet in the next one.

7. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row. The row should end with a single crochet.

Row 2

8. Chain three and turn your work around. You will make a front post double crochet two together working in the first and in the third double crochet of the previous row. So, yarn over.

9. Insert your hook bringing the post of the first double crochet forward and yarn over.

10. Pull the yarn through. Now you have three loops on your hook.

11. Yarn over.

12. Pull the yarn through the first two loops on your hook. Now you have two loops on your hook.

13. Yarn over.

14. Skip the next double crochet and insert your hook bringing the post of the next double crochet forward. Yarn over.

15. Pull the yarn through. Now you have four loops on your hook.

16. Yarn over.

17. Pull the yarn through the first two loops on your hook. Now you have three loops on your hook.

18. Yarn over.

19. Pull the yarn through all three loops on your hook. You have just made a front post double crochet two together!

20. Chain three.

21. Then make a single crochet in the chain three space of the previous row.

22. Chain three. Next you will make a front post double crochet four together working in the first, the third, the fourth and the sixth double crochet.

23. So, yarn over.

24. Insert your hook bringing the post of the first double crochet forward and yarn over.

25. Pull the yarn through. Now you have three loops on your hook.

26. Yarn over.

27. Pull the yarn through the first two loops on your hook. Now you have two loops on your hook. The first leg of the front post double crochet four together is ready.

28. Now you will make the second leg. So, yarn over.

29. Insert your hook bringing the post of the third double crochet forward and yarn over.

30. Pull the yarn through. Now you have four loops on your hook.

31. Yarn over.

32. Pull the yarn through the first two loops on your hook. Now you have three loops on on your hook.

33. Next you will make the third leg in the fourth double crochet. So, yarn over.

34. Insert your hook bringing the post of the fourth double crochet forward and yarn over.

35. Pull the yarn through. Now you have five loops on your hook.

36. Yarn over.

37. Pull the yarn through the first two loops on your hook. Now you have four loops on your hook.

38. Next you will make the fourth leg. So, yarn over.

39. Insert your hook bringing the post of the sixth double crochet forward and yarn over.

40. Pull the yarn through. Now you have six loops on your hook.

41. Yarn over.

42. Pull the yarn through the first two loops on your hook. Now you have five loops on your hook.

43. Yarn over.

44. Pull the yarn through all five loops on your hook. You have just made a front post double crochet four together!

45. Chain three.

46. Make a single crochet in the chain three space of the previous row.

47. Chain three. Next you will make another front post double crochet four together working in the same way as before.

48. So, make front post double crochet four together working in the first, the third, the fourth and the sixth double crochet.

49. Chain three.

50. Make a single crochet in the chain three space of the previous row.

51. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row. At the end of the row when you make the last single crochet in the chain three space, chain three.

52. Then make a front post double crochet two together working in the first and in the third double crochet.

53. Make a double crochet in the last stitch of the row (in the single crochet).

Row 3

54. Chain four and turn your work around. You will start working in the second stitch, which is the front post double crochet two together.

55. So, make three double crochets in the second stitch.

56. Make a single crochet in the single crochet of the previous row.

57. Then make three double crochets in the top of the front post double crochet four together.

58. Chain three.

59. Then make three more double crochets in the same stitch.

60. Make a single crochet in the single crochet of the previous row.

61. Then repeat: make three double crochets in the next front post double crochet four together, chain thee, make three more double crochets in the same stitch and then make a single crochet in the single crochet of the previous row.

62. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

63. When you make the last single crochet in the single crochet of the previous row, make three double crochets in the front post double crochet two together of the previous row.

64. Chain one and make one more double crochet in the same stitch.

Row 4

65. Chain one and turn your work around.

66. Make a single crochet in the very first stitch.

67. Chain three. Next you will make a front post double crochet four together working in the first, the third, the fourth and sixth double crochet.

68. So, make a front post double crochet four together in the same way as before.

69. Chain three.

70. Make a single crochet in the next chain three space.

71. Chain three.

72. Then make another front post double crochet four together.

73. Chain three and make a single crochet in the chain three space of the previous row.

74. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row. At the end of the row, when you make the last front post double crochet four together, chain three.

75. Then make a single crochet in the turning chain.

Row 5

76. Chain one and turn your work around.

77. Make a single crochet in the very first stitch.

78. Then make three double crochets in the top of the front post double crochet four together, chain three and make three more double crochets in the same stitch.

79. Make a single crochet in the single crochet of the previous row.

80. Then repeat: make three double crochets in the front post double crochet four together, chain three, make three more double crochets in the same stitch and then make a single crochet in the single crochet of the previous row.

81. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row. The row should end with a single crochet. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-5.
