The lupine stitch

In this step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the lupine stitch. This crochet stitch tutorial includes photo instructions and a video tutorial (see below). For this crochet stitch you should know how to make a single crochet and a double crochet. This stitch is easy to make and it is suitable for beginners. The lupine stitch is a repeat of two rows. The fabric turns our light and lacy and it has a nice texture.

For this tutorial I use Soft FRAYA Cotton 8/4 100% Organic cotton 50g – 180 m yarn, color: navy blue, and a 2.0 mm hook.

Row 1

1. Start by chaining a multiple of ten plus two. You will start working in the second chain from your hook.

2. So, make a single crochet in the second chain from your hook.

3. Then skip three stitches and make a double crochet in the next stitch.

4. Make two more double crochets in the same stitch.

5. Chain three.

6. Make a single crochet in the same stitch where you have just made three double crochets.

7. Then chain two.

8. Skip one stitch and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

9. Chain three.

10. Make three double crochets in the same stitch where you have just made a single crochet.

11. Skip three stitches and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

12. Then repeat: skip three stitches and make three double crochets in the next stitch.

13. Chain three.

14. Make a single crochet in the same stitch.

15. Chain two, skip one stitch and make a single crochet in the next one.

16. Chain three.

17. Then make three double crochets in the same stitch.

18. Skip three stitches and make a single crochet in the next stitch.

19. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

20. The row should end with a single crochet.

Row 2

21. Chain five and turn your work around.

22. Then make a single crochet in the chain three space of the previous row.

23. Chain two.

24. Then make a double crochet in the chain two space.

25. Chain two.

26. Make a single crochet in the chain three space.

27. Chain four and make a single crochet in the next chain three space.

28. Then repeat: chain two and make a double crochet in the chain two space.

29. Chain two and make a single crochet in the chain three space.

30. Chain four and make a single crochet in the next chain three space.

31. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row. At the end of the row when you make the last single crochet, chain two.

32. Then make a double crochet in the last single crochet of the previous row.

Row 3

33. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

34. Make a single crochet in the very first stitch.

35. Then skip the first chain two space and make three double crochets in the next chain two space.

36. Chain three.

37. Then make a single crochet in the same chain two space.

38. Chain two.

39. Then make a single crochet in the next chain two space.

40. Chain three and make three double crochets in the same chain two space.

41. Make a single crochet in the chain four space.

42. Then repeat: make three double crochets in the chain two space, chain three and make a single crochet in the same chain two space.

43. Chain two and make a single crochet in the next chain two space.

44. Chain three and make three double crochets in the same chain two space.

45. Then make a single crochet in the chain four space.

46. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.

47. Make the last single crochet in the turning chain space of the previous row. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2 and 3.
