Row 1
1. Start by chaining any even number of chains. You will start working in the fourth chain from your hook.
2. So, make a double crochet in the fourth chain from your hook.
3. Continue making double crochets in every stitch until the end of the row.
Row 2
4. Chain three and turn your work around. Chain three counts as a stitch. Next you will make a double crochet two together working in the next two stitches.
5. So, yarn over.
6. Insert your hook in the second stitch of the previous row and yarn over.
7. Pull the yarn through. Now you have three loops on your hook.
8. Yarn over.
9. Pull the yarn through the first two loops on your hook. Now you have two loops on your hook.
10. Yarn over.
11. Insert your hook in the next stitch and yarn over.
12. Pull the yarn through. Now you have four loops on your hook.
13. Yarn over.
14. Pull the yarn through the first two loops on your hook. Now you have three loops on your hook.
15. Yarn over.
16. Pull the yarn through all three loops on your hook. You have just made a double crochet two together!
17. Chain one.
18. Then make another double crochet two together working in the next two stitches.
19. Chain one.
20. Then repeat: make a double crochet two together working in the next two stitches and chain one.
21. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.
22. At the end of the row chain one as usually and then make a double crochet in the turning chain.
Row 3
23. Chain three and turn your work around. Chain three counts as a stitch.
24. Make a double crochet in the chain one space of the previous row.
25. Then make a double crochet in the next stitch.
26. Make a double crochet in the next chain one space.
27. Make a double crochet in the next stitch.
28. Then repeat: make a double crochet in the next chain one space, make a double crochet in the next stitch.
29. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row.
30. At the end of the row make a double crochet in the turning chain. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-3.
