In this step-by-step crochet stitch tutorial I show how to make the mayberry stitch. This crochet stitch tutorial includes detailed photo instructions. For this crochet stitch you should know how to make a single crochet and a half double crochet. The tutorial below shows how to make a bubble stitch. The mayberry stitch is a repeat of two rows. The fabric turns out quite thick and it has a nice texture.
For this tutorial I use Hjertegarn DIAMOND mercerized cotton 100% 8/4 50g yarn, color: 3304 (lilac), and a 2.5 mm hook.

Photo instructions for the mayberry crochet stitch
Row 1

1. Start by chaining an even number of chains. You will start working in the second chain from your hook.

2. So, make a single crochet in the second chain from your hook.

3. Continue making single crochets in every stitch until the end of the row.
Row 2

4. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

5. Make a half double crochet in the first stitch.

6. Skip one stitch and make a half double crochet.

7. Then make the second half double crochet in the same stitch.

8. Skip one stitch and make two half double crochets in the next stitch.

9. Then repeat: skip one stitch and make two half double crochets in the next stitch.

10. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row. The row should end with two half double crochets made in the last stitch.
Row 3

11. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

12. Make a single crochet in the first stitch.

13. Make another single crochet in the next stitch.

14. Next you will make a bubble stitch. So, insert your hook in the next stitch and yarn over.

15. Pull the yarn through. Now you have two loops on your hook.

16. Yarn over.

17. Insert your hook in the same stitch and yarn over.

18. Pull the yarn through. Now you have four loops on your hook.

19. Yarn over.

20. Pull the yarn through all loops. You have just made a bubble stitch!

21. Make a single crochet in the next stitch.

22. Make a bubble stitch in the next stitch.

23. Then repeat: make a single crochet in the next stitch and a bubble stitch in the next one.

24. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row until you have two stitches left.

25. Then make two single crochets in the last two stitches. For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2-3.
