Trinity stitch in rows and in rounds

In this tutorial I show how to make this beautiful trinity stitch in rows and in rounds. For me it looks completely different when you work in rows and in rounds. Personally, I prefer the latter.

This stitch is easy to make and it is suitable for beginners: you just need to repeat the same row or round. For this tutorial you should know how to make a single crochet (sc). The instructions below have two parts: the first part shows how to work in rows, and the second parts shows how to work in rounds.

For this tutorial I use Hjertegarn DIAMOND mercerized cotton 100% 8/4 50g yarn, color: 3803 (light lilac), and a 2.0 mm hook.

Row 1

1. Start by chaining an even number of chains. You will work in the second chain from your hook.

2. So, make a single crochet in the second chain from your hook. Next you will make a trinity stitch working in the last stitch where you have just worked in and the next two stitches.

3. So, insert your hook in the same stitch where you have just made a single crochet, yarn over and pull the yarn through. Now you have two loops on your hook.

4. Insert your hook in the next stitch, yarn over and pull the yarn through. Now you have three loops on your hook.

5. Insert your hook in the next stitch and make the fourth loop.

6. Yarn over and pull the yarn through all four loops on your hook.

7. Chain one. You have just made the first trinity stitch! You will make the second stitch working in the last stitch where you have just worked in and the next two stitches.

8. So, insert your hook in the last stitch where you have just worked in and make a loop. Now you have two loops on your hook.

9. Then insert your hook in the next stitch and make a loop. Now you have three loops on your hook.

10. Insert your hook in the next stitch and make the fourth loop.

11. Yarn over and pull the yarn through all four loops.

12. Chain one.

13. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row. At the end of the row don’t chain one as usually.

14. Instead make a single crochet in the last stitch where you have just worked in.

Row 2

15. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

16. Make a single crochet in the very first stitch. Next you will make a trinity stitch working in the last stitch where you have just worked in and the next two stitches.

17. So, insert your hook in the same stitch where you have just made a single crochet and make a loop. Now you have two loops on your hook.

18. Insert your hook in the next stitch and make a loop. Now you have three loops on your hook.

19. Insert your hook in the next stitch and make the fourth loop.

20. Yarn over and pull the yarn through all four loops.
