Crochet stitch tutorial: The Suzette stitch
Stitches

Suzette stitch

In this tutorial I show how to make the Suzette stitch. The Suzette crochet stitch requires to know how to make a chain, a single crochet and a double crochet. This stitch is reversible and looks the same on both sides. It is a beginner friendly crochet stitch.

For this tutorial I use Hjertegarn Diamond mercerized cotton 8/4, 50 g = 165 m, color: 603 (light blue), and a 2.0 mm hook.

Photo instructions for the Suzette stitch

Row 1

1. Start by chaining an even number of chains. You will work in the second chain from your hook.

2. So, make a single crochet in the second chain from your hook.

3. Then make a double crochet in the same stitch.

4. Skip one stitch and make a single crochet.

5. Make a double crochet in the same stitch.

6. Then repeat: skip one stitch and in the next stitch make a single crochet and a double crochet.

7. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row until you have two stitches left.

8. Skip one stitch and make a single crochet in the last stitch.

Row 2

9. Chain one and turn your work around. Chain one does not count as a stitch.

10. Make a single crochet in the very first stitch.

11. Make a double crochet in the same stitch.

12. Then repeat: skip one stitch and in the next stitch make a single crochet and a double crochet.

13. Continue working in the same way until the end of the row until you have two stitches left.
