Here are two free crochet patterns for snowflakes: for a small one and for a larger one. They are quick and easy to make, and they look great. Both patterns include written descriptions in US terms and a chart, so you could choose what works best for you. I also included the links to my tutorials for all the stitches you will need.

Materials
- Yarn: I use blue Somerset linen silk yarn 50 g from a local store. However, any thin cotton yarn will work.
- Hook: I use a 1.25 mm hook. If you are using a different yarn, choose the hook size that is recommended on your yarn label.
Abbreviations (US terms)
- sl st: slip stitch
- st: stitch
- ch: chain
- sc: single crochet
- trc: treble crochet
- prev: previous
- rnd: round
- ch3 open p: chain 3 open picot
- ch3 closed p: chain 3 closed picot
- rep **: repeat from * to *
Notes
You will be working in rounds. The diameter of the small snowflake is 7 cm.
Pattern
Begin with an adjustable (magic) ring.
Round 1: ch 4, make a trc in the magic ring, ch 6; *make 2 trc, ch 6*, rep ** 5 times, join to the last st of ch4 with a sl st.
Round 2: *make a ch3 open p, 3 sc in the ch 6 space, ch3 closed p, ch1, ch3 closed p, ch 1, ch3 closed p, 3 sc in the same ch 6 space*, rep ** 6 times, join to the ch 3 open p with a slip stitch. Fasten off.

Round 2: make a sc between ch3 and the dc of the prev rnd, 6 sc in the ch 5 space; *sc in between the two dc of the prev rnd, 6 sc in the ch 5 space*, rep ** 5 times, join with a sl st.
Round 3: make 3 sl st in the next three sc of the prev rnd, ch 3, dc in the third sc of the ch6 space of the prev rnd (the same where you made the third sl st), ch 7, make a dc inc in the next sc of the prev rnd, ch 1; *dc inc in the third sc of the ch6 space of the prev rnd, ch 7, dc inc in the next sc of the prev rnd, ch 1*, repeat ** 5 times, connect with a sl st.
Round 4: sc in between of ch3 and the dc of the prev rnd, 8 sc in the ch7 space, sc in between the two dc of the prev rnd, sc in the ch 1 space; *sc in between the two dc of the prev rnd, 8 sc in the ch7 space, sc in between the two dc of the prev rnd, sc in the ch 1 space*, repeat ** 5 times, connect with a sl st.
Round 5: make 4 sl st in the next 4 sc of the prev rnd, ch3 closed p, ch 1, ch3 closed p, ch 1, ch3 closed p, 6 sl st in the next 6 sc of the prev rnd, ch3 closed p; *5 sl st in the next 5 sc of the prev rnd, ch3 closed p, ch 1, ch3 closed p, ch 1, ch3 closed p, 6 sl st in the next 6 sc of the prev rnd, ch3 closed p*, repeat ** 5 times, connect with a sl st. Fasten off.
